A little bit of pitting can be rehabbed, but if you are building a new wheel with a Cognitomoto hub, why not spring for a aluminum rim and maybe one that is slightly wider to allow more rubber choices?

That seems like what i will most likely be doing, i have not had time to dismantle the rear wheel yet; however, the rim looks to be in much worse shape than the front. If the rear is as bad as it looks, i will most likely be needing a new rear rim and to not make it look ghetto i would then be getting a matching set. But it is good to know that if i do need a spare rim, the front will most likely be an 'ok' temporary solution! Thanks wasnt sure if rehabbing a rim was kosher, since its so tiny  ;D

It's really difficult to know how far gone your existing rim is.  If you have rusted bits rattling around, that's not a good sign.  If it is just some pitting, you can likely get by.  Obviously, you want the rim's structure to be sound and not fold or crack on you when riding.

So change of plan from the hub. Decided i might as well try and fit a harley wheel on! If all else fails, the cognito hub will always be there. Found a decent deal on a super glide so i picked it up. From other threads ive seen the conversion is possible and it keeps the projects a comin! Pulled the 3/4 bearings and spacer just to double check measurements, now just need to order new bearings and spacers to fit the axle and ill be golden. Hopefully! Once axle is here ill double check its 25mm and hopefully get the front end put together! Rotor fitment will come later but shouldn't be too bad!

Took the swingarm off and got all the bushing out to swap some new ones in. Ran into what seems like a common occurrence when removing the shock bushings... Well i would just like to say f*** that! Tried pretty much every suggestion from the forum and had to end up cutting. Small bit in the dremel did a pretty good job. Eyeballed the tickness from the sides and they just folded in on themselves. Swingarm has been my workout for the week! Next up will be putting the wheels back on and loading the engine back in to see how things are. After a nice clean up of the superbly neglected swingarm of course  ;)

Well it took me about 8 tries and alternating harley spokes and honda spokes to realize i needed to use something to help keep the spokes in order. Alittle tape and some wiggling and i finally got it! Pretty irritated though, get to 40th spoke and i lost the nipple  >:( eh i can get another hopefully i will see it when the sun comes out. Either way one step closer! Can sleep peacefully now!

Put the wheel bearings in and spacers and attached them to the forks. Really like how its starting to look! Gonna get some blocks under the frame and hopefully get the engine in this week before i headout to Miami. Or maybe it can wait until i get back we'll see depending on whether i can get anyone to help me  :o i really do not want to do wiring!!!

Gotta give it to Dino, if i did not watch his hackaweek video on the engine install i think i would have done alot more work than i had to with this. I may have cut some corners and deviated from his set up but still thank you for making your videos! Four straps later and its in!  :'( should have cleaned the frame before i dropped her in but i guess i will have to hand wash her!

Well, today i decided what the hell its time to see if ive done everything correctly or not.... She fired right up! Holy cow you should have heard me scream and i definitely had the biggest smile ive had in a while! Thanks calj for reinforcing my question on the hardwire to test that the engine could start. Drained the bowls and going to enjoy a nice cold beer in this hot ass california weather. I shall try to upload my attempt at start up, had to drop the phone to give her some gas  8)

Getting into the final stretch i found a place to upholster the seat. Not quite sure how it will come out. I gave her pretty much free reign on design because truthfully i dont even know what i want... Hoping for the seat to look somewhat stock but we shall see. Took the old king and queen and cut the foam into a more enjoyable shape and gonna hope for the best!

Well as the name implied "Spruce Goose" i have been inspired by Howard Hughes H-4. Last thing for me to finish up will be the side covers which i plan to make with heat treated wood but we shall see.

Started testing the clutch, and im starting to run into the clutch engaging but it wont disengage for quite some time. Im happy to see that when i pull the lever, the sprocket will actually stop; however, when i release the lever it will not start right up. My question would be if the bike is moving will the momentum from the forward movement also help with the engaging of the clutch? Have a feeling it should engage and disengage almost instantly :'( probably my plates are too used. MORE TWEAKING!

Determined the cause for the weird clutch must be from old friction plates. Just got the plates in so im soaking them and also got the bearings for the rear wheel. Let me tell anyone as eager as i was... Just wait to lace up the wheels until the hubs and bearings are good.
Since the plates are soaking i thought this would be a great time to hit the bearings; however, now i see how fá=*ed the hub is, i wish i did this earlier... Either way its getting done. And HOPEFULLY ill have this beauty running by tonight!

Put on the new chain and tested if the new plates were the cause. Yep its engaging and disengaging like a charm! If anyone needs a new 530-100 chain i got one, found out after receiving it 100 links is too short  :'(

I thought 100 links was standard on most 750s with 17T front sprockets no?

@Ed That's what i read as well for a k4... But the PO put a 75f swing arm modified for drum brakes, which should bring it to 102 but im at 106. So if anyone needs a parts unlimited t530-100 ill ship it just pay shipping and its who ever wants it!
