Also, a bit of an update on the frame mods...  I have things almost wrapped up with all this, I just need to weld in the threaded studs for the battery cage and drill the mounting holes in the cage itself.  I think I'll do some studs for the Motogadget brain and rectifier/regulator as well and then I can finally send it to powder coat!

What's going on there with your RC?
You mean my other money pit?!

That's the daily.  Only 5k miles on it so far, picked it up last fall.  It's got quite a few silly mods (rear brake, titanium hardware etc) at the moment, some more meaningful suspension upgrades will happen later this year hopefully.

Finished up getting the seat pan mounts built and welded in today.  All I have left now is to weld in some threaded studs for the battery mount, and I think I'm going to change up how the rear of the tank is secured.  The original mount is kinda chunky and ugly and will likely be visible still after the seat is upholstered.  I want something similar to how a modern sport bike tank is secured at the front, with a couple rubber isolated bolts.

THEN I can finally get it powdercoated!

Can I make a small suggestion about the seat underpan? A drain hole, for those wet days? :)
Just a thought...I still remember the rusted-away frame tubes on the 750K1 where some of the holes did not get drilled in production.

Sure you can!  There is actually some gaps built in around the shock mounts, and the front end of the tray will be stay wide open.

So I'm thinking ahead and considering getting my wheels/tires ordered up and I'm wondering if anyone has tried stuffing a 120/80 tire into the back of this thing.
I've crunched all the suspension numbers and after deciding I want to target a trail number close to 97mm, picking my front tire (110/80-18), finding a shock that gets me almost 1.5 degrees less rake on the fork, a 120/80 rear will get me the rest of the way..

Battery came in, along with my motogadget brain.  Went with a different battery so I had to mod the battery bracket a bit but I'm happy with how it came out.  I WAS going to weld studs on to secure the motogadget but I think I'll just drill the seat pan and use button head allens from underneath.  If I get them in black they will hardly be seen..

Any input regarding a 120 series rear tire on this thing?  Will it fit in the stock swingarm?

Speedcell -- wow, you didn't mess around.  One of the best lithium based batteries out there - some even have a built in volt meter.  Speed Merchant uses them on their race bikes.

You may find that you have to run an extra link the the drive chain to let you move the axle back 1/2" for its 'first' slot. to move it away from the bow. I've seen them one the 350F before, though: the one I am thinking of had a 120/90-17" rear wheel, though (pseudo-chopper look).

Not too worried about the height of the tire, it's the width.   Sounds like it will fit.

Oh no black oxide!  Pro-bolt does a black finish for their stainless that will do just fine.
As for the wiring I'm reasonably confident that I can manage that with the MU centered up as I'll probably be using an M-button to bus all the input wires.

More progress on the frame, I think I'm finally ready to powdercoat!  I have the major electrical components all placed and secured under the seat cowl.  Last thing on the pre-PC list was getting the tank secured and I've got that sorted this afternoon.

Before the cut:

After the cut and with the mounting plate welded in:

Mounting tab made and welded to the modified original mount:

Mounted with a more modern set of hardware:

It looks amazing. Did you fill the pits and voids in the frame Larry? If so, how? It looks like liquid, so nice.

No I didn't get to crazy with that, but they did do a very nice job anyway getting it smoothed out..

Looking forward to your latest care package so I can get the motor in there!  I think it's already shown up at home but I won't be back there for a couple days.  Assembly starts on Saturday!  ;D

Don't do it. Leave them be. Was an enormous pain in the ass, involving torches and pointy tools. Powder with them in, it's not like they can get much harder.
