An option for "drain holes" is to dimple them outward. Promotes draining, while discouraging wicking water in. I close the front of the tray and perforate that face edge for cooling air to circulate in. Being on the face, the holes don't seem to attract any debris or moisture to speak of.

So I'm thinking ahead and considering getting my wheels/tires ordered up and I'm wondering if anyone has tried stuffing a 120/80 tire into the back of this thing.
I've crunched all the suspension numbers and after deciding I want to target a trail number close to 97mm, picking my front tire (110/80-18), finding a shock that gets me almost 1.5 degrees less rake on the fork, a 120/80 rear will get me the rest of the way..

Battery came in, along with my motogadget brain.  Went with a different battery so I had to mod the battery bracket a bit but I'm happy with how it came out.  I WAS going to weld studs on to secure the motogadget but I think I'll just drill the seat pan and use button head allens from underneath.  If I get them in black they will hardly be seen..

Any input regarding a 120 series rear tire on this thing?  Will it fit in the stock swingarm?

Speedcell -- wow, you didn't mess around.  One of the best lithium based batteries out there - some even have a built in volt meter.  Speed Merchant uses them on their race bikes.

You may find that you have to run an extra link the the drive chain to let you move the axle back 1/2" for its 'first' slot. to move it away from the bow. I've seen them one the 350F before, though: the one I am thinking of had a 120/90-17" rear wheel, though (pseudo-chopper look).

Not too worried about the height of the tire, it's the width.   Sounds like it will fit.

Use stainless button heads from below, Larry. The black oxide screws will rust. You off the screws with acorns on the M-Unit.

I know you want to "center" your M-Unit, but the connector from the battery will cause some interference with the input side wires on the MU. Might need to move the MU over just a bit... OR at least, wire it all up before you mount it permanently.

Oh no black oxide!  Pro-bolt does a black finish for their stainless that will do just fine.
As for the wiring I'm reasonably confident that I can manage that with the MU centered up as I'll probably be using an M-button to bus all the input wires.

If you do use the M-Button, there are specific conditions to require it to function properly. Like, installed within steel bars to isolate any signal interference. I personally do NOT use it, as I have found it to be prone to issues and the convenience is outweighed by a much more simple directly wired scheme.

As a matter of fact, if you have not bought it yet, and want one, PM and address. I have several on the shelf I'll happily send along as a gift. No returns, no complaints, no finger-pointing later  ;D ;)

More progress on the frame, I think I'm finally ready to powdercoat!  I have the major electrical components all placed and secured under the seat cowl.  Last thing on the pre-PC list was getting the tank secured and I've got that sorted this afternoon.

Before the cut:

After the cut and with the mounting plate welded in:

Mounting tab made and welded to the modified original mount:

Mounted with a more modern set of hardware:

Progress!  The powdercoater sent some pics after the frame was dipped and stripped.  A trip through the media blaster is next, hope to have it back today or tomorrow!

It looks amazing. Did you fill the pits and voids in the frame Larry? If so, how? It looks like liquid, so nice.

No I didn't get to crazy with that, but they did do a very nice job anyway getting it smoothed out..

Looking forward to your latest care package so I can get the motor in there!  I think it's already shown up at home but I won't be back there for a couple days.  Assembly starts on Saturday!  ;D

Thank guys.
Next question: what's the best way to get the original cush drives out of the rear hub?  Going to be taking it in for powder next week and I need them out..

Don't do it. Leave them be. Was an enormous pain in the ass, involving torches and pointy tools. Powder with them in, it's not like they can get much harder.
