Petcock rebuild kit for cb350F
« on: November 09, 2015, 05:36:00 PM »
I have cleaned up my carb parts, and before I order some gaskets I am considering what I will need for the petcock.

So far, the petcock bowl will not budge and I don't know what I'll need for rebuild.  I have some acetone inside the tank hoping something will soften so I don't ruin the bowl. A 12mm socket fits on the bottom, but it feels like it will strip if I force it any more.  Maybe some heat. but in the meantime...

This kit from 4into1.com looks pretty good - anyone try it here?

Also, before I start assembly of the carbs, I need some JIS screwdrivers.  I really like the set from RRRToools, but at $100 with exchange and delivery, on a budget I am considering this new guy.  http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,152347.0.html

Anyone try them yet?

Used it on the CB 350F I did this spring and it worked well. The products that I have bought from them seem quite good quality and value overall.
Try removing the front part of the petcock and spraying some PB Blaster in there and soaking for a while. Heat may help too, yet there is an O ring up there that may melt if too hot. I have had a few bowls that were very tight and it seems it is more corrosion than old gas that holds them together.
Common sense.....isn't so common!

For heat try just putting the whole petcock in some very hot water for a few minutes. That wouldn't be hot enough to hurt anything but it might allow whatever goo is keeping the bowl threads from turning to break loose.

Thank you for your replies.  A couple of good ideas I'll try.
