So who has repair welded gearshift forks? because i did brass welded mine back to specs.

A critical part. Failure there and your whole trans is fooked

I wouldn't trust anything 'repaired' down there on my bike, especially when there are many available.

Of course its kind a gample. But i grind the forks back to specs and checked all clearences. And everythin looks good to me.

I'm guessing you tried the re-weld AFTER being sure that they aren't bent? Curious to see how well this works, subscribed.

is it goes to happent Again?..have you faund the problem why it eat the fork..is there slock/missing shims

heat make the forks even harder and more breakabel..or softer..and Wear aut farster..no good

Brass welded? Im curious about this method. To my recollection, they needed to be hard welded if they were to be repaired. Brass is much softer than the metal used on the gears and will likely wear off very quickly. Then you'll have brass material flowing through the oil. Not good.

i have seen gear forks brass veldet at the shaft/bushing,,by Honda..but not as a repair weld..still dont like the idea

Some of the boys racing in Italy have hardwelded then re-ground them straight. Should be better than new.

actually i did brass soldering with torch. so its not gona then get harder if i do it with torch. and actually brass soldering is same thing like hard soldering. and i checked after i had done it that the forks are straight and good. and when i shift my gears with hands and change gears all works properly. here in finland they use this method in the jokkis race cars gearboxes. i can add some pics.

heres few photos! i put brass on spots where was some wear and then grind it. but what actually cause the wear on the forks if the forks arent bent?

but what cause these circular marks on the forks?

? because it would caused by worn fork(all was 0.3-06mm above the manuals specs) and works wasnt bent

A mystery how the circular wear marks would be there if the forks were not bent and the fork ends were above wear limits

Thats mystery. And circular marks are both sides of fork.

Or is that marking just normal wear because of normal gear change? Because i have checked several times the clearence of the fork to gear. And clearences are 0.5-0.8mm so works could not be bent. So is that mark caused by normal gear change?

is the rotating part polished and nice
..that part vill eat the silver brass if it not are smoothed aut..have you kompensated for vear..and put ekstra material on..vories goes on how long before brass/silver is floting in the engine oil...if a hardnet shift fork is veared aut a softer brass material cant hold for long...but then had the gearboxx ran aut of oil??

That's what we call "Brazing" The marks on the forks look like normal wear to me. My question would be how long is that braze going to last? It is definitely softer than the steel it replaced.

but if i have TIG or MIG welded that fork it could be harder but forks wear out faster because heat makes more harder and more breakable like strynboe said. maybe brass isnt so hard like steel but its more sturdy.
and if forks ran out of brass i still can use forks because they are still in the specs. but i can maybe get used forks if i could find them.
