$1.89 gas
« on: November 13, 2015, 10:28:41 PM »
I filled everything up today. There's bound to be a crisis that drives up the price soon.   The no ethanol premium was still $2.89 but I got 5 gallons anyway.

not much ethanol free available here in Michigan, so little that all my bikes are tuned for E10, so I  am over in Wisconsin with Old Scrambler for the relay rally a couple months ago and here's some ethanol free 91 octane for regular price, I figure what the hell let's see what all the hub bub is about and fill the tank...big mistake, bike ran like total #$%*, pig ass blubbering rich!, was never so happy before to hit reserve and get a nice fresh tank of the crappy 10 per cent corn liquor...soon as I did, it was dialed as good as ever

...as far as these low prices go, you know we gonna pay for it somehow, ain't nothing free in a free market economy
If it works good, it looks good...

I filled up at $1.66 a gallon because I thought saving $0.13 for the tank full  wasn't worth the drive to the $1.65 place I had seen. When I drove back by it was $1.59.

It had been higher because the refineries were changing to the winter blends.  Supposedly it's not going back up very soon.

You would be smart to find a fuel efficient car unless you plan on using your bike for everything.  There is a chance that when it goes back up it will shatter $4 and head straight for $5+ a gallon and keep going.  They could use anything as an excuse like ISSI showdown etc...  All these people buying gas guzzlers are idots imo.

I feel kinda stupid every time I fill up the truck and it's 16 mpg.  The advantage of e free is that ethinol is hygroscopic so if you live in a damp area you will get water I your tank wich then sinks to the bottom

Actually I do generally plan on using the bike for everything. It rained starting Saturday so it's in the garage for now, more storms coming.  I've been riding the new tire every day since about July, now  is wearing thin, Chain continues to stretch and the rear sprocket teeth look like lake chop with a gust behind it.  It's needing a break, and I got some of those things freshened up on the other bike.

Mantree,

Nothing wrong with keeping the 4x4, but get an econobox too.  I might end up doing that with the jeep as the jeep is useful to move things around.

Only problem is I forget to start it up and that is bad for the battery, and am afraid it will rust away.  Still I feel better knowing I have a ready alternative to the 13 mpg city jeep.  I don't have to worry about a sudden spike in gas prices.  Just a thought.

faux fiddy,

I would love to be careless, but now I got too much stuff to do that.  Maybe in the near future.

I tent to ride by bike daily unless we get a good snow I have a sidecar on my Yamaha and get around pretty good but had to park it while my shoulder healed from being taken down by a car that cut across 3 lanes to make a turn and hit my front tire new front wheel and some cosmetics the 750 is back on the road but it will only be risen when I know we will have a nice day

Yeah, careless indeed.  I did plan to be on the other bike with fresh drive parts and new tires months ago.

My AWD astro has been parked in the backyard for over a year. I need to use it a little this winter.

We have a pretty hefty fuel tax here in Washington State but I filled up for $2.17 the other day at Costco. Makes driving my Tahoe almost painless. But as someone said it probably won't last long, I would invest in oil and fuel stocks!

OPEC said months ago they don't plan on reducing output anytime soon so I think low prices will stay until someone else ramps down production.

Man where the heck are you going that it's 1.79 a gal?  Cheapest for me is 2.79 (premium only in the 1200 GS).  Not that I really care, when you're only buying 3.5 gallons it hardly matters.
