Nice FD's! I built a turbo Miata for myself a few years back, but that was only 260whp out of the stock SNC 1.6L motor. Helped my friend build a 418CC LSX + 91mm turbo FD that moved pretty well though!

Stoked to see how this build comes out. Some stellar work going on here.

Things are moving forward..

The main shaft for the supercharger is done, keyed slots to hold the pulleys++.

bracket for the idler pulley. Had to space it out a bit to match the belts.

the blank pulley is a timing belt pulley adjuster from a mazda miata.

about as compact of a drive system as i was able to make while making sure it was plenty strong.

Intake tubes from air filter, and throttle body going to the supercharger.

Rear wheel just waiting to be installed once the supercharger is in place.

Finished the intake manifold, welded the brackets for the fuel rail, smoothed everything out and polished it.

In the process of finishing the mechanical bits of the bike as is due to exhibited next week at the bi annual bike trade fair in norway !
The seat is at the upholsterer and the remaining bits of the bike has been painted or polished :)
Really looking forward to seeing it complete, not just boxes of parts.

You certainly know how to work with aluminum and to achieve a nice polished surface. Your buddy can really lay down a nice TIG weld in the aluminum.
Very sanitary work that is quite compact.

The only thing that makes me cringe is the use of pods as they are not very good at filtering air...
The gauze filters are not known for their effectiveness despite the hype about them being so much more efficient and capable of adding X horsepower.
I am not a fan of them outside of a race track.

That is really a great design and super compact with some nice engineering behind it. Have fun at the show and best of luck with the coming wiring work. I look forward to your future info and picture shares on the project.
What kind of horse power do you hope or expect to see?  What are you doing to upgrade the clutch to handle the added boost of power?

i am aware of the filter, but i have very limited space, and no room for a air filter box with a oem element.
Also i have been running similar filters for 10+ years(not the same one for 10 years:) ) on my 400+ whp track and street miata, with no internal damages to either pistons, cylinders, or turbos. And i have had it apart to check for wear :) The filter will work for now. Filter choice is just down to packaging, not looking for that last horsepower anyway :)

I have no idea of what horsepower level this will end up at.. between 75 and 100 maybe.

Clutch is upgraded, extra disc, and stronger springs. I will just have to see if it holds up.

Hopefully it will be finished with all details and ready to start withing a month or two.

I'm curious as to if you've ever done any trial and error testing with intakes on small supercharged motors like the one in the 550?  I'm just wondering how efficient that design is, since looks and performance don't always match up and all.

On this build i have not done much trail and error or advanced calculations. we normally do that for car engines, and tune intake lenghts , plenum volume etc to match the rev range, cams and turbo used.
The cb550 will be fast enough for its intended use and it is as much of a mechanical challenge for my self just to build something new (this is my first bike ever) as it is a all out performance build.

Picture of the intake made for one of my cars. this one is actually designed for this engine :)
