Little bike is pretty much stock so far... it's found rightful place in dining area for final reassembly. :o

Looks good.  Did you paint the frame & engine, or was it that nice to begin with?

I'm guessing 71-72 as it has big blinkers with small light on the rear and the large reflectors on the ears. Looks NICE
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

It's a '72 alright but the ebay acquired rear winkers are another vintage and model - my parts manual doesn't show anything near this massive. These babys are big - real big! :o

This is when it starts to be fun! Each added piece makes it look better! Only PITA is getting the wiring sorted out. Enjoy!

Mounted "Euro cafe Bar" from Cycle-RE-Cycle. Decent quality and rise/pull is right at where I wanted it t/b. Not a difficult process locating holes, pulling wires, rebuilding switches and such - just a little time consuming. This is sooooo much nicer than silly ape hanger bar 500 came with!

Looks great! I got those same bars and really like how they feel.  What are your plans for the idiot lights and triple tree? looks like they are stripped already how did you get it to bare metal?  I'm considering a polished finish on mine when I get to them.

Keep up the good work!

The idiot light ID plate lifted from the housing by working in an exacto knife carefully. I plan on cementing it back in place. The paint on gauges, yoke, gauge holder and clamp just bubbled off with aircraft paint stripper. I'm debating whether to clear coat the alum pieces or leave raw. Tomorrow I go after a number of little bits and parts with primer, paint and/or clear so the decision is upon me for these pieces.

Whelp, I reversed myself and turned down the road to Dr. Honda by painting yoke, brackets and gauges black - that two part rattle can primer and clear coat are excellent products. I'm real pleased with how it turned out even though my 1st gen digital camera can't show it.

I pulled front end apart, cleaned, clear coated fork bottom following scotch pad polishing, renued seals and used 10w30w oil for fork oil just like my manual instructs (15w fork oil is still sitting on my shelf).

On to testing and connecting ALL the electricts!

Amateur paint job preparation: This is my paint room converted from a bedroom. The thin plastic hanging from the walls conducts an amazing level of static electricity (plus I live on the high desert) which pulls a fair volume of overspray from the air. Out of range is an exhaust fan and room is sealed from rest of house to contain fumes and other goodies like isocyanate.

I've also pulled in a line from my compressor.

I don't know how much you have into her, but I am guessing it was well worth it.  Thanks again for your post, these built posts are by far my favorite.

The basket case cost me $150 for which I also got an additional 550 motor which I may do something special with in the future and a box of various redundant parts. I would estimate I have an additional $300 in supplies and parts to get me this far which seems very reasonable. I'm sure to need another three hundred or so for tires, paint supplies and sundry parts b/4 she will be a road worthy working gal which is why I have this bike.

First, nice bike.  Looking really good.

Second, my wife would kill me.  Not only do you have the bike in the dining room, you out do that by making a bedroom into a paint booth.  Hell, I'm not even allowed to wear my boots in the house after I've been in the garage.  She's pissed as hell I have two bikes disassembled in the garage, can't even imagine the shriek I'd hear if she came home to the CB in the dining room.

Checking out the progress, on this build, has been quite an eye opener. I've not checked it out for a bit and what I've seen today has been quite an experience. No way would I be able to bring the bike into the house, much less convert rooms to work in. The attention to detail is super and that bike can be nothing but Awesome when it's finished. Great job there and it is really inspiring to see such work as yours. Keep up the fantastic work and please keep us posted.

I just love to watch rebuilds like this. It's so interesting seeing the changes and watching the bike come to life. I rebuilt a 550 last winter and reading this thread makes me wanna start all over again  :)

Keep up the good work - you're doing a great job!!
