Dogleg Lever
« on: November 17, 2015, 01:51:19 PM »
So I ordered a set of dogleg levers for the K8...cant find a brake lever and the one they say fits is not correct. It is most likely for the earlier K models, cause mine looks like a 79 K model style but polished.

Anyone know where to get one for a K8?

I have black dog leg levers on my 500 and I have been told in here that these are definately not a rare part (PO told me they were!), so I guess if you keep searching ebay you'll find a brake lever, John

Here's a set I foumd easily:

John

The brake lever pictured in that ebay ad will not fit a 78' CB750. The later 750's (77/78 K and F) front brake lever is different enough that I can tell them apart at a glance.

The original Magura dogleg levers are a little rare.  The new repro ones are so cheap that it really isn't worth it to search for the old Maguras and pay more for them.

I have a similar set on my 550 and it took A LOT of grinding to make the brake lever fit. Compared to the stock brake lever it was much fatter on one end and required shaving down about a quarter of an inch to fit correctly, and then some fine tuning with a file.

Thanks for that info Scott! - I am glad to hear that - I really didn't believe at all that my 500's PO was the type of gentleman to tell me lies just so that I'd buy the bike off him! (- so when I was told in here that they are definately not rare, I had assumed that it must have been the PPO that started telling the fib).
So "a little rare" is good enough for me & has set my mind at rest on that one!

That's what they say fits the K7/K8 but with the brake light switch in the MC......those wont work.

FWIW Be wary of chinese made brake levers. I had one snap off in my hand! Luckily I wasn't braking while riding it just happened in the driveway. It's not worth your life.
