Cam tower plugs "rubber nickels"
« on: December 03, 2015, 11:21:14 AM »
I recently received a Vesrah complete gasket set for a K4 motor. It does not seem to include what are sometimes called "rubber nickels" a/k/a cam tower plugs. Other gasket sets also seem to exclude these for the K4 motor. What are they and what purpose do they serve? Are they not necessary in the K4 750 motor? Thanks in advance from a newbie to these great bikes.

If you're referring rubber pucks, be certain to install them with good sealant, otherwise mad oil leak on top end.  They are sold separately from engine gaskets kit

A few kits do not come with them.  you'll need to buy them from another seller.
You need to ensure they are .030"(min) - .040" thicker than the depth of the puck recessed holes to ensure a good seal, and use a good non hardening sealer (per hondamans book)
I bought sets (of 6 plugs) from two different sellers.
There were a few in each batch too thin for a good seal. I used the ones which got me the .040" needed.
