Hey folks just picked up a 1978 CB750K in pretty much stock condition with a bit of service rust but nothing I can't take care of. Im hoping to turn this gem into a cafe racer of sorts. Looking forward to digging into the build , and will do lots of research from you all experience folks on here.

The large number of white parts looks like Police stuff.. Not sure if they had anything different in the serial number.
If you have the tank off and its white underneath.. I strongly suspect police bike..

Nothing much local at all. Most of my parts are ordered from the U.S but with our dollar being low I've eased back. Recently I've been ordering from canadamotorcycle.ca

When I lived in Alberta I came across the same thing. I had a flawless, accident free record but one year I went to renew my insurance and was told that vehicles over twenty years of age statistically get in more accidents, so they would no longer insure a driver with an accident free record because my vehicle hit an arbitrary milestone. I changed providers after that but do not recall who I went with.

Touchstone? Ok are they local?
Hey on another note: can i pick your brain about handle bar styles? Im not sure whats the best
clip-ons or a clubman style or a low rise set of bars? What do you have and are they fairly comfortable?
Thanks

Thanks for the tip 754 but I ended up getting insurance from a company called Rogers , cheap too. (160yr).
Now if I can just get this this started. New plugs fresh gas , full charge , she just turns over and wants to start
but just can't get her to go. Tried starter fluid still no go. I think Im tearing down the carbs next.

I'd be looking at spark before fuel if it won't start on starting fluid. Probably time to check as well as your points.

Check the number 4cyl. and there was definitely spark, I will keep trouble shooting for sure. Its nice to have some local fellas to chat with for sure as this a way new deal for me. Never owned an oldie before. So Im relying on your experience guys, and yeah for sure would like to meet up with some of the local Cb'rs sometime, maybe sooner than later if I can figure out this starting issue.

Try to get new plugs ..old plugs on these that even look like decent spark ..can cause fits starting them
Moreso in this weather.. D8ES or D8EA  I think..
I see you got that.. Clean the point with file and paper if rough then take a plug put it on 1 or 4. Open the 1/4 points THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS with the starting fluid..move it out doors backfire is emminent.. Then pull a 2or 3 lead and try same... Thats how i check spark.
Try with plugs in if you like but take it outside..can be as loud as a gunshot..not kidding.. Not always , but when i didnt expect I think i fell off the stepstool..scared the piss outa me.

Yep put new plugs, and fresh oil , fresh gas, havent looked at the points and to be honest not sure where they even are yet. Im guessing behind one of the covers on the engine. I will check the manual. So I drained the float bowls last night wow the fluid in there was in really bad shape. All but one would drain, so more investigating is needed here I think.

Fuel float is critical and a quick way to check for spark... Pull a plug stick it in a wire and touch to a metal surface and try to start without starting. You should see a spark.
