Attaching Custom Seat
« on: November 15, 2015, 04:34:08 PM »
For those of you that trimmed off the seat hinges and went with custom seats how did you attach it to the bike?

Still debating whether to do fiberglass, plastic, or wood and then have it upholstered but starting with how I will attach it will give me a good idea of how I should proceed.

I welded tabs on the frame and drilled holes in them. Then drilled and threaded in rods to my seat pan as locating dowels. You can use wing nuts to secure it.

this is an option...I have no experience with it, but it seems fairly straight forward

Velcro can work, amd snaps..but you have to drill holes for the snaps.
If seat has studs underneath, you can make a strap across the frame rails and bolt seat on without welding..... The front you can usualy bolt to the seat a piece that slides under part of your frame .

I drilled the frame rails, tapped and bolted the stuff right up.  Use rubber spacers to prevent the vibration of the seat pan.  Trust me unless your a woman you need something to stop the vibrations. ;D
