Yes, must not forget they are 45 years old. But a lot of rust came off the inside...... We´ll see how that will sound

Any idea concerning build date of VIN 160xx and cutoff VIN for those chain tensioner?

Not yet.

I little bit more of a challenge for the cleaner are the exhaust flanges. A mixture of rust and smut.

One hour on two of them with oven cleaner, rust remover and steel wool gave this:

Treated front fender with smut remover and then with rust remover.

Its still the original a double cut fender (same as on my 19xxx, with holder for the speedo cable.
In pretty good shape.

Started to clean the engine.

Stopped after 6 hours, still a lot of grease on the underside.

Took off the gearbox cover and the chain cover.

Here you see (grease as everywhere) the double chain sprocket.

Still do not know if I will keep that as an odd, period correct after sale modification or go back to genuine chain and sprockets.

What is the correct finish of that rear brake rod?

Was it zink plated and if so, silver or yellow? Or just painted in silver?

Behind the tape I got another black tape.

Do I have to remove tape this or is this the old smooth line?

Looking at the pictures of the Oil Lines, it appear to me that the black tape is hiding (or trying to fix) something going on (and not good) with the Oil Lines. Looking at the very top of the Oil Line in the front (of the picture) it looks like the braid is coming undone. That can't be good.

If it were my bike, I would take those oil lines out and if the fittings were good, would have new lines put on the old fittings.
Or, if money is not tight, get completely new Oil Lines.

Yes. I mounted news ones. Took me 5 hours. What a work! Had difficulties to fix the nut of the front line to the tank.

With engine oil. Happily, no rust inside the tank.

Very litte rsut on the back side. Cleaned that and painted with black 9005 together with the battery tray.

Mounted K2 seat lock for the Giuliari seat.

Had there been Giuliari seat for the KO that fit into the KO seat lock?

Sad - no one knows that with the Giuliri seat.

Cleaned the rear shocks. They seem to be still the old KO shocks the bike originally came with.
Quite happy with that and the result.

Cleaned and polished the front rim, that was still in reasonable condition. Got new spokes and nipples here

Had to re-chrome the rear rim. Seems to be the early round rim.

New rear after -sale spokes didn't fit (!). Had the old spokes be zinc-plated, took new nipples.

Opted for Conti tires for their traditional look.

Hubs cleaned / polished.

The seat, the bike came with, has a reasonable cover and a good pan.
But the sponge is mostly crumbled and it is missing the strap and the trim.

I was lucky to find a spare seat with a good sponge and trim, but disrupted cover, allready dismantled.
So I made one out of two.

Actually, have a left over KO seat pan with diecast hole pattern.

Here you see the seat in comparison to a YAMIYA red sponge replic (?).

Unfortunally, the YAMIYA seat pan has another hole pattern, I think it is the sandcast pattern. So not correct to the diecast.

Took the carb bowls off (OK, only 3 as No. 2 wasn't willing to get off).

Unbelievable but true, that's what I found inside: Nearly nothing.
After almost 40 years sitting in a farmers barn.

Took out the needle jets and noticed: clean. As floaters are.

Cleaned the bowls with my secret weapon (see above) and decided, to let the carbs where they are and not to risk to brake the insulators (rubbers).

As said, inside Looks pretty clean so no need to take them out
