Is this a trick question? I'll bite; Why not?

Confirm the presence of 12v at the solenoid with the handlebar switch set to RUN (use a meter). Is the battery good? Measure it's voltage. Also, confirm the starter motor is connected properly to the solenoid.

You're not providing much info, so answers won't be very specific.

Well I was waiting for the one person to be like this belongs here, but seriously trying to get ideas before I get home from work, battery was just taken off its first charge this morning (brand new) and I got the replacement ignition switch so I managed to actually see my electrical system come to life, not familiar with the dash but when I pull in clutch the left and right turn signal indicators turn off and the odometer/dash lights up then when I press starter nothing, no relay clicking no starter turning over, and none of the lights dim which is telling me there is no pull, I'll start probing around when I get home from work, any other info required pls ask

Actually, this would be better placed under the "Other Bikes" section with a topic of "Broken Electrical". It's true, this is primarily a SOHC focused forum, but there's heaps of other bikes and plenty of folks familiar with more than just early CBs.

Writing the best synopsis of the history of the bike, condition to the best of your knowledge, and whether any componentry is stock/non-stock helps loads. Any pictures, and of course, and meter readings taken also help to determine problems.

Well I've been fiddling all day till nightfall and I think I've narrowed it down to being the solenoid (see picture) basically I hooked up my battery negative to #3 and the battery positive to #2 on the solenoid, and there was no click, and no continuity between the big posts.
Did I miss something while testing or can someone confirm this things toast?

The diagram shows
#1 To rectifier
#2 to ignition switch
#3 to starter switch
#4 to clutch operated switch

Typically, the battery POS is attached directly to the stud on the right, the starter motor to the stud on the left. Using a screwdriver and shorting across the posts will jump the starter. That confirms the starter is viable.

The spades usually see the electric start button from the right handlebar, the clutch safety switch, and I guess on yours the rectifier and ignition switch.

You should confirm the presence of 12v on the spades when the key is ON, RUN is set at the handlebar using a multimeter. On your bike since the clutch switch is integrated into the solenoid, the clutch must be active for the current to pass from the right side stud to the left side stud (POS->STARTER).

get your battery fully charged up. And if you do jump it from a car, be 100% on the polarity!!!!

And to everyone that's wondered the battery was the first thing I replaced, and it sits on a 1.5 amp maintainer whenever I'm not trying to crank it

So, it now cranks, fires, and runs on CHOKE only. Thats an indication of fuel starvation from either a clogged/rusty tank, or, your carbs are not nearly clean enough.

A full and proper cleaning of these carbs is a major effort. Theres a member on here, HARISULUV who is probably the best resource for guidance on cleaning them. He can also likely assist you in locating quality replacement parts for them as many aftermarket brands are crap.

Use the Personal Message function and send him a polite intro, and request for some guidance. Worst case, you can send your carbs to him, and he can do a full rebuild and restoration on them for you.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

To everyone that helped it looks like it's running now, seafoam always works for dirty carbs, it started right up as I revved it, looks like a bon Jovi concert in my backyard! Lol goes to show you what a $260 bike off craigslist can do with a little TLC.
