Arturo Magni, most will remember him as the head of MV's "reparto corse", the man without whom Ago might not have been Ago....
but later on he sprinkled some of his magic on Hondas too.

R.I.P.

Indeed, he created some really special bikes.

One of them appeared at our local bike meet this summer, very surprisingly.  I managed to get a couple of photos with my mobile:

a friend of mine has a Le-Mans IV that has been modified by magni with a parallelogram swingarm like in the pic as well as a host of other changes. A few years ago he went to magni to buy trhe special bearings for that arm, Magni was still in the shop, nice to customers as ever, but already ill.
I happen to know also the PO who brought the stock bike all the way from israel to Magni some 20 years ago to have it modified. Magni found him a nice room to stay while they where bolting it together and he rode back home with the modified bike....
He was a smart and sensitive guy and not just a tough racing director, in a recent interview he said he count himself lucky because: "many clients become close friends and that makes me feel surrounded by a big family that grows every time a new model sees the light of the day"

Certainly how you describe him is rare these days. Some of these people are irreplaceable.

Interesting design that parallelogram.  He also developed (invented? not sure) the paralever from what I read.
