Like the others have said, you represented the part well, saying appear to be and possibly, you didn't make a definitive "this is a sandcast item" claim.  Buyer's fault.  If he wants a refund, have him ship them back and refund upon receipt.

You weren't selling new badges; the pics are of what he bought. Don't refund and let him know YOU can also leave very negative feedback.

I emailed the buyer of the emblems, told him that if he was that unhappy with them that I'd give him a full refund (including shipping). But that he was responsible to pay for the shipping to send them back to me. I don't care about the money, I care more about the negative feedback he might give me. Bobby's right though, at one time or another, someone is going to be unhappy and I'm bound to receive a negative somewhere down the line. I just hope it is later than sooner. The buyer also has 100% positive feedback and I'm hoping he cares about his as much as I do mine. We'll see.

I want to thank everyone for the comments. They comfirm that I tried my best to describe it to the best of my knowledge. I myself have been taken on Ebay before on a NOS tank set and know what its like. In fact, I posted here hoping that someone knew the character who ripped me off. You were all so helpful back then as well and that means a lot to me. I'd never wish for anyone to go through it and especially from something I listed. (BTW.... my wife and I made that guys life miserable long enough for him to finally send me my money back.)

Gersh and Magpie, thanks for the identification tips. I went to crotchrocket and I couldn't find any information on the CB750. Perhaps those parts are listed for dealers only? Magpie, I'm going to have to get that book. Does it show photos of the parts? I'm still a bit confused about my emblems. I almost can't wait to get them back! I'll be on a mission to see if there are two completely different black and silver emblems. The inside lettering did not appear to have any kind of worn off paint. In my identification book, the K0 is the only bike with black and silver emblems.

Rick,
No photos, just line drawings. I tried to upload a pic of my emblems before, I'll try again.
It won't let, says disk space exceeded. Sorry
I'll try posting one to the gallery and then the link.
Cliff.

I recently sold a sandcast tank on ebay. The buyer has not paid for it yet and I still have the tank. I was out in the garage taking pics of my 72 emblems and was about to go through the boxes of parts that I have for I know I have other emblems. I turned around and saw the Sandcast tank sitting there and couldn't believe that I didn't bother to look at it! Here is the pic of these emblems. These also doen't look correct, but they don't look like any emblem I've seen. Does anyone know about these?

I remember your posts on that "gold" tank set. The pictures and description were beautiful and what you received was a hideous joke if I'm remembering the right post. Really glad you were finally able to resolve that one :)

I too read your auction and not only does your description NOT imply that the badges are from a sandcast but your pictures clearly show the bumps INSIDE the lettering and smooth area outside. If this fellow had known in advance what he wanted then he should not have bid on your auction at all. You certainly are doing him a undeserved favor by refunding his money and I hope he is grateful for your willingness to let him back out of a fair deal.

Yep, that was me and what I got was hideous! :o LOL I did find another candy gold tank and side covers, but I sure would have liked to have the whole set.

I just got an email from the buyer of my emblems and he said "no deal" and threatened me again. I thought to myself, this is a bunch of BULL! I know I don't have to reimburse him anything and Ebay would stand behind me. So I decided to just let them handle this problem. I looked up the Ebay resolution center, did a bit of reading and come to find out, Ebay doesn't tolerate "Feedback Extortion" (that's their term, not mine. But I like it!). They'll suspend users for doing this. I went back to my Ebay messages and find "another" message from this guy with an apology! He said he let his temper get away.  ::) By this time, my temper is a bit high too. Let's just say, he got an earful from me and I still agreed to honor the reimbursement. Now I'll just sit back and see if he honors his end of the deal. At this point, I don't care what he decides to do. I am at peace with myself.

As for my last post, those emblems are not sandcast either. I think those belong to a K5 or K6 (maybe both) but I never paid attention to them before. I guess I have tunnel vision and only pay attention to the things that I'm working with.

OK I know little about 69/70 750's as they didnt come into UK via Honda, only as personal imports but i do know that the tank badges are "handed" with different numbers(87121 and 87122) BUT most spares dealers only kept one side as either can be made to fit with gentle re-curving. ALSO 500 badges are the same shape with different colouring on the originals hence if you order 500 ones you get 750 ones.
I have both NOS 750 and removed 500 in my drawer and will get them out and photograph if you want
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

I still have the original tank emblems that were on my KO when I bought it in 1972 (tank was same as sandcast but I replaced it after it bit the dust in 73) This bike was built 10/96. The emblems are smooth in the lettering and have dimples around the letters. Don't have a camera at the moment but If you want some photo's will see if I can get my son to take a few snaps with his phone

I think this guy is a bully and pulls this crap on people. All the time. He is probably email brave. I predict you will see no feedback from him, and you will go on and live a long and healthy life.

Hey Rick,

Sorry to hear that this guys still giving you so many problems.  Post his email, I am sure we could make his life a misery! ;D

On a more important note, go to Crotchrocket.com.  Put mouse over the "Dealer Services".  A new menu will pop up with a "Parts Finder" option.  Click on the Parts Finder and you will be able to input a catagory type (Motorcycle, ATV, Utility Vehicle).  Then you can input manufacturer and model year.  After this is done, you will have a list of all models made that year, choose accordingly and you will get all the parts fiche drawings and partnumber lists.

This is a great resource - and you can identify any parts you are selling with the Honda Part Number, hopefully avoiding another PITA Ebay incident!

Happy Holidays!
