What are the differences of the tach for cb750?
« on: December 08, 2015, 01:56:33 PM »
I have been looking to add a tach to my hondamatic and i was curious about the differences in the tachs on the cb750 models.  I see on some parts websites that they have the cables available for:

1)  CB750F ('77-'78)
2)  CB750K ('77-'78) + CB750F ('75-'76)
3)  CB750K ('69-'76)

From the 3 cables available for the SOHC 750's, it leads me to believe there could be a difference in the tachs as well.  The only real concerns to me would be:

1)  Length
2)  Connectors

If anyone has any insight on this please

One difference I have come across is the F models have a higher redline but that is all I can help with.

Tachs are tachs. The differences are mainly in the faces. Colors, redlines, indicator lights in earlier versions. The main difference in cables is the length.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Awesome, so the connectors between the models are identical / play nice with each other then?

Does your cam have the tach drive teeth?
Do you have a valve cover with tach drive installed ?
Far as I know the drive is not in your cover....

I have the plug currently, cam has the teeth.   I need the drive and gasket for that, there are many on flea Bay though.

That being said, does anyone know what cable / length would be appropriate?  If not, i can trial and error it, a $12 cable isn't a big hit on the wallet.
