Anyone recognize this old car taillight?
« on: December 09, 2015, 10:19:29 PM »
Part of a box lot I bought at an auction.  Also included were an old Chevy emblem and a moto meter for a Model T(sold it for close to $60 :)).  Says Yankee 164 Reflex on the glass lens.  Thanks for any help....Larry

Could be aftermarket for a ford but that's just a guess. I've seen similar lights for sale at a cycle shop.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Cool light

It is but I wish I knew what it was.

I think it is older Don because everything in the box was original but that sure doesn't mean this is.

I've found quite a few on Ebay and google images but none like this David.

Anyhow, thanks all for looking...Larry

You could make your own reflector and polish up the aluminum to high gloss...
You do the sanding to get it close (320/400-800 to 1000) and I can buff it out in less than 30 minutes.
Or, just take a sheet of aluminum foil with 3M 77 or 92 formula and apply the foil to the formed reflector base... Use  J B Weld to glue the socket holder from auto parts store to the bulb reflector body...
RTV in a form to make your seal after you formed the bucket for this whole shebang out of a blue foam insulation block  in the shape you need, then thin your epoxy finishing resin from the model hobby shop (Zap RC industries) adding about 10-% alcohol 91% pure...
Then melt out the foam and glue in blocks for the reflector body to mount on and drill hole for your grommets for wiring... It would take some time but it would be worth the effort if you wanted it badly...
THat's a really cool tail lamp lens.

So, you have a rare one it seems.  Did you happen to score a pair of them? Or, just the one?
Looks like it is in great shape and thd chrome bezel is in nice shape too!
Gaskets can be made from an RTV designed for that task, not a Ultra Black/Blue/etc. product but a gasket and seal RTV.

A pair could be enticing to someone doing a 40s or custom street rod.
You might be able to sell it to a street rod shop if you have a pair.
You have good luck finding some interesting things and smoking deals.

Only one unfortunately. Plan is to sell on Feebay if I ever find out what it is. I had been spending every Tuesday night at a local auction, which has closed  :'(.  You are right, I have found some really cool stuff, and made a fair amount money to boot.  the best deal was a box full of NHRA Contestant window decals, paid  a couple bucks for the entire box and had about $700 worth of sales ;D ;D.  ....Larry
