Hey if any of you guys need any stainless steel brake lines let me know, they run around $40 a piece and I have a lot of different lengths. I used to build mini choppers before the china invasion and am left with some left overs.

Hey Jesse,
I would be interested in talking to you about some but not sure length yet as I am changing handlebars. I am looking to change from straight drag bar to a straight or slightly pull back Tee handle bar that has "built in" risers.

Do they have  fittings, banjo, etc to make them work? Any pics?

I have been slowed down on doing much work on the bike with  some medical problems and biopsy surgery in my leg, along with the cold weather. So as soon as I get feeling better, I will get the new handlebars and see what I need.

Thanks,
Lee

I happily reside in Wichita with my lovely wife and kids and my 02 Bandit, 72 CB450 cafe, and my 72 750 soon to be cafe. I happen to love Hutchinson, I grew up in McPherson.  Anyone here been to the racing museum in Marquette? If no, you should check it out. There is alot of flattrack racing history in our part of the world.

Hey Guys,
I grew up in  Oakley ( western Kansas ) and now live in Victoria ( small town east of Hays ) I think pinhead lives in the KC area also. I've got my 78 cb750f down to the bare frame but have everything painted and am beginning to reassemble. Should have it done for the first blizzard!!!!!

Hello Hocker,
Been through Oakley a couple of times going to see my sis in Colorado. If I remember correctly this is where we pull off to eat. Don't they have road gates on I70 there to shut down the Highway during the "blizzards"?
Good Luck on your project.
Lee
yeah Pinhead is from KC area

As said before, I'm currently residing in Kansas City, or more accurately, Overland Park. Used to live in Central Kansas. I've got a '79 CB650 that only needs some cosmetic work done (and a top-end gasket set/rebuild and brakes and shocks and ... you get the idea). There aren't as many of us in Kansas as I thought there would be. We should try to put together some kind of "get together" some time this spring. I'd be up for a couple-hour ride if it's not raining, icing, or snowing (I can deal with the cold).

Good Idea. At one time I was founder of a yahoo group called Kansas Sportster Owners and we had some pretty good rides with just the few that were on the list when it started.

Any one ever done the Cassiday Ride?

Thank you for the welcome. I understand that is a pretty nice ride through the flint hills if you were to head to Marquette. I also sometimes like to ride into Cassoday. Ever been there? I'm hoping to have my 750 ready for a ride later on this year, and Cassoday is a pretty easy ride from Wichita. I would like to meet some people with some of the same interests as me, so if any of you plan on going to one of these places, let me know, and maybe we'll be able to set upa a ride.

As long as no crazy budget issues arise I should be able to have the bike I am currently working on running by the middle\end of march. If that is the case then I am game to meet up, I am pretty interested in checking out that museum that is for sure. Below are a couple pics of my bikes, granted this was a year ago. There are three K models and one F.. all 75 CB550's, not bad for only 500 dollars.

Here are my two crippled bikes.. The one w/ no tank is completely torn down while the one w/ ace bars is pretty much the same as when I got it as it sets in a corner.  I usually use this bike as a reference when I am working on one of the others and I have forgot where something goes or how its setup.
http://pictures.driftkids.com/CB550_NotRunning.jpg

Here are my two that should run... I say should because I am no mechanic but I didnt get these bike to let others work on them. The one w/ the black tank is the one I am currently working on. I have taken the seat\tank off, cleaned it up as much as possible, replaced the sprockets\chain\air filter\oil filter\spark plugs and now getting ready to rebuild the carbs, rpl the brakes rotor\pads and tires. At this point it should be ridable but im not a fan of the stock look so I will be getting clip-ons, rear-sets, new shocks and a new seat pan as soon as possible.

Jones,
Yeah I am up to a ride to Cassoday, work overtime permitting.
I have been to Cassoday a couple of times. It's a great ride from Topeka. Sometimes we go south on 75, then west on 56 to Council Grove then s on 177. Sometimes if run behind we partially run the turnpike.
On the return trip we go straight n on 177 to 70 to Topeka. This is the best part of the ride I think.
I will probably ride my Cb900 though. Not sure if I would trust the 550 bobber that far, yet.

Cafe
Looks like you got some great projects there. $500, great deal! Referance Bike, that's cheating!! Sometime I wish I had had a referance. ;D
Do you plan to rebuild all of them?

If we can get a ride planned, maybe we can meet up before heading south.
Lee

Attached are some pics of a Cassoday ride. Pic1 riding North on 177 from Cassoday.
pic2 2nd sporty in line was the bike I had at the time.

I'm fairly new to the board and to the sohc world. this summer i bought my first bike, a 74 cb750. this winter I've been giving her a good freshening up and hope to have it on the road this spring. I've been learning a lot and hope to be able to contribute the board. also hoping to meet some people how share the same interests as i do.  I'm going to have the only cafe style bike in town.

I've been a lurker for a while, and thought it was time to speak up. I'm from Kansas also, Burlington (sixty miles south of Topeka) to be exact. would like to meet up with some fellow Kansans for a ride and refreshments sometime.

While Heff is here, a bunch of us should get together and head up to Marquette to the museum.  Or some of you guys from the KC area could ride down and meet a group of us there.  Hell, even pack up some gear and make a weekend out of it.  Something, I dunno, I'm needin to put some miles under my ass and get the winter stink blown off of me :P

Can't believe I spend all day on these forums and just now found this  :P Overland Park here, got a CB750 K0 chopper project (stripped down to the frame at the moment) and a CB400A that needs LOTS of work (just put another 400 engine in the frame). I should have something runnin by spring and would totally be for some kind of meet-up.

now, which one to ride is the question... or is there even a question?

long way to go w/ essentially no gear.  i'm one of those people that must be prepared!  then there will be no need to plan!   ;D

How many miles is that? My parents live just east of Russell and I commonly make the trip home from Kansas City, being about 240 miles. No "gear" except for clothes and some WD-40 for the chain. :P

That'd be a helluva ride. The 240 mile trip that I take is enough to make me want to get off the bike for the rest of the day.
