HELP with 1969 CL/CB450 twin, ROCKER VALVE ADJUSTERS
« on: December 11, 2015, 02:43:52 PM »
HEY GUYS!

I KNOW ITS A TWIN , WASENT SURE WHERE TO POST

i have a 69' CL450. motor was bad so i slapped in a 74' CL450 i found.

cleaned it up, polished the covers, new gaskets, painted bla bla bla

anyhow, i swapped the nuts on the rockers adjusters, for some that weren't rusty looking. now i need to re adjust those 4, i guess valve guide adjusters

should be easy, anyone have ideas how i should do it?

Yeh, better start with a manual. Mess up, mess up engine! Gotta pull dyno inspection cover, both valve covers front and rear. Also carb tops for access. This engine runs less than .002 clearance but .002 fine. Oh, you going to adjust that 3 foot long cam chain first? Manual and a KNOWLEDGEABLE friend might help or a twin forum. G'luck,  oh yeh don't forget to set the marks on rocker arm adjuster properly or you'll have premature wear. Intakes point toward rear, ex towards front! You feel like you might have opened Pandora's box? ;D  450's a different animal!  Bill
