Thanks guys! I ended up going with Continental RB2/K112 Classic Tires, they just came in the mail today. They're a classic tread on new rubber and also come on the original sizes. I got them in 3.25-19 up front and 4.00-18 in the rear. I'm hoping to try and get them mounted up and on the bike sometime this weekend.

Installed swing arm, center stand, kick stand and rear shocks as well a steering stem with new tapered bearings.

I was hoping to get both wheels on this weekend but I accidentally pinched the rear wheels tube and no stores were open because of the holiday. Back end will have to wait for another day. Front is all back together though. Apologies for the gigantic mess in the garage.

I also picked up a decal set for the bike and added a few. It came with one to tell when to replace the chain too. Does anyone have a picture of where that goes or know if it was even on a '74? I took reference pictures when I disassembled everything and it definitely wasn't there but it could have flaked off anytime in the last 40+ years.

The decal for the chain goes on the chain guard of the K6 model I believe, or at least I've only seen them on that particular
model..

Second time's the charm on the back wheel!

Chain seems tight, but I'm sure it'll loosen up with some riding. Started to adjust it and only got to the first notch and it's really taut. I've got to back it off and give it slack.

Put on a NOS front fender that puts the chrome on my rear fender to shame. Anyone have a line on a NOS, rechromed, or good condition rear fender? Mine's not terrible but nowhere near perfect.

Tires ran me about $230 for the pair. The shocks are used ones I picked up on eBay that cleaned up really well.

Thanks for the links! I think that rear fender is the earlier style, for the 69-70. Not sure if it'd fit a '74, I know it has a different style taillight. Might be an option though.

Technically I don't need a new rear fender. The one that was on the bike is in ok shape. It has a little rust but it'll be hidden under the seat. It is just kinda faded and especially noticeable where an old inspection sticker used to be. Who's JT? I'll ask and see if he has one. If he doesn't I may just put the fender I have on for now and keep an eye out for a nice one down the road.

Hey sorry for the delay, I was waiting to hear from JT who is my go to guy for all new/nos/yamiya stuff. He just informed me that he closed his ebay store, which is sad, but I'm not sure if he is still reselling for yamiya. I did ask if he has a fender for you, I'll PM you his contact info once I hear back.

Thanks for the info on the fenders guys. I decided to just mount the one I have for now and keep an eye out for one with better chrome. This one is really not that bad it's just not as nice as all the rest of the chrome. As you can see it has some light scratches, the chrome's brilliance has faded and you can really see it in the area where an old inspection sticker was. Maybe I'm just being a perfectionist.

I'd be a little concerned about that chain though - even a new one shouldn't be that tight. Sure it's not a link too short?

Thanks Martin! I just double checked and it's 100 links, same as the old chain. I got new sprockets too but I didn't mess with the teeth counts, I just went with the stock sizes.

IINM, 100 links was Honda's way of saving costs. It will run fine, in fact little more fun if you intend to ride aggressively on zig-zags. An 18 front sprocket with a 102 link chain works better for touring.

I'm back! I was working seven days a week through all of October-November with zero time to get anything on the bike done. By the time my hours went back to normal winter was here and my garage was an ice box. Finally spring is here, the snow is melted and I can get back to work.

I spent this afternoon getting my carbs ready to go back in the bike. I had bench synced them last spring and set the float heights but hadn't done the clear tube test to get everything at the same level. It took a few float adjustments and I stink like gas but everything should be pretty good until I can do a true carb sync.

I got brand new boots for both sides of the carbs and got everything back together. The old ones were hard as a rock and the airbox side were all warped. New one pictured left, old one right.

Carbs back on!

Put in a new K&N air filter and after lots of cursing and busted knuckles I got the airbox back in, too!

Gauges are back together. I figured I should get these on the bike before before I mount the headlight and start the wiring. That way I'm not scratching up the headlight bucket trying to get these in.
