2017 - the year of the new Honda V4 Superbike for the masses?
« on: December 09, 2015, 02:43:17 PM »
More hints that Honda may unleash 2 liter Superbikes for 2017 -- new CBR1000RR and . . . . RVF1000RR or an affordable version of the RC-213V-S.

Said Honda Research and Design head, Tetsuo Suzuki:
“The three options open to us include a new replacement for the Fireblade, the RVF1000 you have mentioned and also a cheaper version of the RC213V-S. We will be studying all three in parallel and all are under serious consideration, but it is likely there will be one or perhaps two of the three options made for production. ... As far as the possibility of an RVF1000 that will be derived from a cheaper version of the RC213V-S platform and engine, then that is one possible path.”

One can hope . . .

I'm a little surprised they sold all of the rc213v-S bikes already, and I'm sad they had to dumb it down for emissions

the British motor cycle news printed this interview in more detail and by affordable they mean either 40 to 50 grand in your money if they pitch it cheap or 70 if they decide to give us some of the good bits , so start saving now !
one thing is for sure .... it won't have 46 on it

There are only rumors at the moment, but the mention was of either a lower-spec RC-213V-S in the $50K/50K BPS or (my preference) a RVF1000 in the range of $25K/25KBPS

All of the photos in the Lanesplitter article are older, existing models.  And, no, Honda will not be adorning any bikes with Rossi's 46 anytime soon, other than its leftover GP bikes in its museum.

42 is a much better number !

i would love to see the bike priced at $25k  [ which would make it about £18 k over here and the same price as the R1M ] but there is a new fireblade out in 2017 and they won't want the two
bikes competing with each other so if it does happen they will push it up market
while the v4 is a rumour the fireblade is not , the race teams have been promised something special . it had better be because 2016 is going to be another hard year for Honda superbike riders , even worse than 2015 .

I think they are getting the same old stuff with some minor engine upgrades.  Poor Nick Hayden will have to ride a dog for a year before getting a new development superbike.  Why can't they just give him the good $hit NOW?!

Hayden has been riding crap bikes for years , he is much better than his results would lead you to believe .
its his job to make sure the 2017 bike is good enough . he gets to ride it in January

Nick spends most of the winter break in Newport Beach when doing flyaway testing. I think he will be at the D-Store tonight for their industry grand re-opening. Sykes tomorrow afternoon.

Just curious - what's your intel on him testing a 2017 bike next month in 2016?

Hah. No such thing as a bad boy in motorcycling. I was reading about the new ZX10, Kawasaki has a focus on this race series. I've always liked Nicky and I'm really hoping Honda pulls a rabbit out of their hat so he has a decent platform. I also hope he's still got some jazz left to get up to speed on a superbike. I'd hate to see him continue to struggle on a dog.

Cool get together Don. I saw the "apex" movie the other week and bumped into Yvon Duhamel and a bunch of "mature" fast guys....certainly a different crowd!  ::)

he was good on the bike it was all the other stuff that was a worry , lucky for kawasaki he quit in 95 after a few rounds , can you imagine that team with russell and gobert as the riders !  party on .

more chance of a rabbit than a decent superbike next year brent , 2017 will be his last chance of glory by 2018 Honda will have got a younger rider . sad but that is the way it works
at the recent jerez superbike test the kawasaki was the bike to beat and with two very good riders on board they must start the year as favorites
