It's not a bad idea.

The one thing the chin strap does is prevent the helmet from falling off no matter what.  With that rear access door, if it pops open on impact that helmet will come off.

I still like the idea though.

This would be my only concern as well... but I'm sure they thought of that. It may only qualify for certain crash ratings SNELL/DOT, etc... because of this, similar to modular helmets.

EDIT: Just found on their website... the helmet is DOT, AS/NZ, and ECE rated. So available in NA, Eur, and Aus/NZ.

We have the strictest helmet codes in the world, up until recently we weren't allowed to buy a helmet that was certified overseas, I'd say that if you have an accident bad enough to make the helmet fail, you are probably already dead.... ;)

If they offer it I might take a look when I have to give the old Shoei the heave-ho.

It does bring up the question - how do you hang the helmet on the bike?  Helmet bag I guess.

The QR code on the side is instructions on how to open it in an emergency. Apparently it requires a screwdriver if the helmet is damaged where you can't use the release levers.

No thanks... I'd rather have the strap cut and helmet removed but with that said it is a neat idea.

Thats incorrect, there is an option to use the QR code for severe head injuries, you can still open it normally, have you ever seen a helmet removed from a patient with serious neck or head injuries..? You CAN NOT just take it off normally, it is slowly cut off, this new system is actually far better...

I like it, although I would prefer a pop down sun shield. Swapping shields is a pain in the butt.

Now the question is cost. Their website says the store goes live in a week, so we'll know right before Christmas.

When I moved to California I took my Aussie helmets with me because I like them better than the shoei I had in Ca.

I just bought two helmets: one has the dark visor, one has a clear visor. Though the clear visor helmet doesn't see much use..

Just from reading the comments and concerns it does not look like they thought this one out well.  What if it pops open on impact?

Hold the freaking phone!!  Star Wars opening day and Chewbacca5000 decides to change his avatar to eliminate Chewbacca??????

I think they've likely crash tested this helmet extensively.

i also think they have tested it extensively , its passed all the tests and they know if one did come apart it would be game over for
their business . i would think it would be over engineered rather than under .
they are not in Europe  yet but if the price is ok i will try one , if only for the fact you dont have to take your glasses off to put it on !

Anybody seen anything about what it weighs compared to a modular?...I liked my HJC modular for various reasons but lite weight was not one of them.
If it works good, it looks good...

The quote below is from the FAQ section of their website. Not a cheapy that's for sure.

The VOZZ helmet is $888 AUD which includes a helmet bag and 80% tinted visor.

Chewy nailed the 1st question on my mind.

I like my modular helmet & the aussie lid is cool too but since I switched to a modular full face some time ago I cant shake the mental image of my chin making the first impact and the lid opening up just in time for impact #2. I think a chin strap should be offered in the aussie style too, just to keep it snug. A rider and the helmet padding probably has a narrow + & - for face fitment too.
