Oh man we see failures more & more as aftermarket supplies cheap alternative Bill. I use OEM o-rings, pucks etc all the time now.

Good thing it came apart for sure.

As I  tell my wife periodically, all things happen for a reason. In this case you were lucky. Keep pushing my friend. You've got 36 days.

Bill's been chomping at the bit to line up with me. He'll get his first chance at Memphis to show you guys how quick that new motor runs. Likely have the stroker crank in there by that time too. Heck, doesn't matter to me- I ain't skeered. Lol.

No stroker .......yet! Lol. Chomping at the bit for a 10 second, CONSISTENT race bike! I'm getting closer. I don't like watching. Had some set backs,  some self inflicted, we'll live and learn. I'm planning on kicking that door down in Memphis. New head is in the oven drying as we type this. Shooting for 395-399 lbs and 115 + rwhp. And then we'll see if I can put up or shut up! C'mon, Bill  Using SS wire this time around.

All joking  aside, I'm rootin for ya Bill. I've been feelin your pain brotha and just want to see you make some clean passes. Too much money and time have gone into this bike over the last year without producing results. I appreciate the fact you haven't given up. The numbers will be there as reward for the hard work.

BILL: Do you have a granite table to check for flat surfaces ????? MSP Never put a big BUSA motor together without "gently " putting the head on that block and using a feeler gauge to check for TRUE . A must tool for a engine builder to seal up the [pump] motor for the best power.

Pops right about a surface plate, I usually give everything a rub on fine emery paper.

I know everyone has their fav's so each to his own, but if you've had sealing issues.... for a few years now I've been using Gasgacinch on my copper head gaskets with SS o-rings. I find it's better than copper spray or anything else I've tried.

Bwaller: I used that "yellow snot" Gasgacinch to seal all the KZ motors and HONDA motors I have, if you want a soft gasket , pan, side or valve cover gasket to never leak use SUZUKI BLACK or go to a TOYOTA dealer part counter and get their BLACK sealer = same stuff....... no leaks for sure. In the old days one of the wrench spinners that worked for my father [1950-60-70 era] had me spray paint copper gaskets with SILVER spray paint both sides [twice] to seal up and to make it easier to remove head if a new problem on those FLAT HEADS MOTORS came up later. The PUMP or that motor needs to be dead on sealed for the best power.

Bill, so glad its coming together for you. She'll run like a scalded dog this time so be prepared to hang on brother.

As to the lost truck key situation, I remembered my cousin found a key in some bags of compost leaves I gave him. Turns out it was one of the two keys I lost. I loaded up last night   for  trip to Commerce, but when the alarm went off at 5:00am, my mind directed me to the weather forecast of 100 degree temps. I cut the alarm off and rolled over for some shut eye. Lol. Actually I haven't gotten the check yet. It might get here today.

See you in Memphis.

BILL: With the trueing up and shave down how many number points did that work pickup = will you be able to start that high compression motor [ shaved, o-ringed ] with a on board HONDA starter ??? You hurt your leg at Valdosta kicking that Cobra. Engine builder local gave me a hint on starting shaved head motors = spray a little starting ether in carbs before you crank leg or button or start cart......... remember ST/ET rule must self start. The granite table I use was 4 inches thick and I made a soft wood pine cover to store  for NO NICKS OR DENTS = TRUE FLAT.
