1970 CB750 Police Special
« on: March 22, 2015, 12:36:57 PM »
Hey everybody
I am in the middle of restoring an early 70 (Dec.69) 750 K0 Police Bike
I was just wondering how many of you guys on here have one of these.
Not many were made and a lot less were brought into the US.
These are really cool bikes with a lot of unique features that were only on the police versions.
It would be cool to start some kind of registry or sub- group of owners of these unusual bikes.
It could include not only the 750s, but the 550s, 450s, 350s and CB77s all of which had Police versions.
I would like hear some ideas and opinions about it.
I am posting a couple of pictures of some painted parts that are ready for the assembly process.
I also am posting a picture of what the bike looked like from the factory.
Thanks guys
Pete

Welcome Pete ;) Got a 4/70 750 KO but don't remember seeing many of those police model KO's. Are they just stock bikes with the police hardware installed or has the engine, suspension, etc been beefed up? What's the history on the bike. How long have you had it etc, etc.

Thanks dhall
I have had the bike for few years waiting in my stash untill I found all the missing original police parts for it that were fitted at the factory, but were removed by the police depts before they would sell the bikes to the public.
All the cool stuff like the Siren, which is the crown jewel, the rear document box with the blue light on it, the red patrol lights in front, etc,.
The engine and suspension on the police bikes were all stock and unaltered from the standard 750s according to Honda, although, I have to say, I rode this bike before I tore it down to do the restoration on it, and it was the fastest 750 I had ever ridden.

The physical differences are in the frame. There are a number of additional tabs and reinforcements throughout the frame that are for the purpose of the various connections and mounts of the unique police items that these bikes had.
Front and rear crash bars, rear bumper bar, short police seat, rear luggage rack that mounts the document box etc.
Also, the headlight shell is police bike only with a single police speedometer that can be stopped at any speed via the handlebar switch.
I am posting some more pics
Thank
Pete

Nice copsickles both of you have.  I was a Honda mechanic and service manager back in that era but never saw a Honda cop bike, only Kawasaki.  Always wanted a copsickcle...Larry

That's a cool looking bike.  I've got a local friend who has an 80's Kawasaki police special, but never seen the Honda one in the flesh, so to speak.

Wonder how many were made, might be rarer than a Sandcast. They are very cool.

It's a 750 F SuperSport model, what MOT features does it have?

Looks to be in fantastic condition!

I think mostly everything was removed, maybe the panniers are from the MOT days? - the speedometer has the patrol light and meter stop lights (photo attached).

Agreed...those 750 police specials are cool bikes. I have not seen one in person, but I like the pics. Good luck with the build.

How does the speedo stop work .
Had a 75 Montreal police 750 with that type of speedo. But no feature to stop it. Also can recall any special brackets on the frame .
