I have to use inline filters with some of my non-Honda bikes because OEM parts are unavailable. If you MUST use and inline filter - and I would prefer to do without always - you have to mount it vertically. Horizontally or even most diagonal angles easily vapor locks, which, I can attest, is a huge pain in the butt. I've never run into the 90-degree filters, so I will take Bobby's word for their efficacy.

The stock filters on my 750s have always proven sufficient.

Flybox1,  Has anyone used this style of fuel filter ?  Not sure if Flow Rate is of concern, but it appears that Visu-Filter has different 90 degree 1/4" filters with different flow rates.  What one are you using ?

I'm using this one (large capacity), and have been for the past 4 years w never an issue.
My K8 tank did not come with a petcock screen, and this filter was my choice

Flybox1,  Thanks so much for the reference to the filter that you are using !  From the prior responses I was getting on this Post, I was getting caught up in looking at the highest Flow Rate of the filter. It looked like the Polyester internal screen inside the filter flowed better than the Bronze sintered, but that doesn't appear to be a factor in your case. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't restricting the fuel flow too much.

I too would assume the polyester screen has higher flow rate because its 'pores' are larger, but the smaller pores of the sintered bronze still allow adequate fuel supply to our carbs.  At least in my experience.

At least we're both thinking the same way and I appreciate the Solid Input again. I think positioning the filters is important too like what you have done with yours. Where did you purchase your filters ?

Got mine off ebay, but here's the product number. I'm sure you can find a bunch of sellers.

You are correct. My setup us just like Flybox. Fuel flows down from the petcock at a very steep angle, goes into the 90 degree and drops straight into the fuel inlet. The tubing and filter are completely filled with fuel at all times. The use of Tygon makes this possible. You can get Tygon at any place that repairs lawn equipment.

I've used the gray Motion Pro stuff on my bikes with good results. I assume the black is just as good but not sure about the clear.

Yes. The OEM is less flexible  and requires clamps. Tygon whatever color is self clamping. There is a polyurethane line used by go kart racers. That stuff self clamps you have to yank it off with a pliers or cut it.

Good luck!

I ran a filter like this awhile back but it was straight thru....not a 90. I ditched it because someone else said in-lines caused starvation problems. It turns out that I had other problems then that have been fixed along the way (uneven fuel levels in the bowls, bad connection at 2/3 coil connection). I may try again with this 90 degree filter. I can't really see it being a problem unless it isn't routed right and the 90 would seem to give it a better shot to the carbs from the stock vertical petcock outlet. Easier to see debris and change than stock strainer and cheaper also.

Good looking bike.
Fuel line - it was some cheap polyurethane stuff the PO gave me in the parts bins.
It turned from blue to that green, and began to swell...I ditched it after a while.
Just search for blue poly fuel line. Its pretty common stuff, but I dont trust it.

Tygon - Only the yellow tygon brand fuel line is rated for extended fuel use.

You're probably fine for a season.
Might want to slide a clamp on it just to be safe.

Flybox1,  Don't want to have to change the fuel line again if that's the case.  Was just looking into the Color strictly for cosmetic reasons.

That's what I originally was wanting to order, but got off on a tangent on Tygon fuel line or similar from recommendations on this Post.  I agree, I think that Honda's fuel line would work just fine !

I tried just regular clear tubing a few years back but noticed in got hard as a rock within a year. It never leaked but it just didn't sit right with me. I currently have the gray motion pro stuff which is fine except I don't like the color. I may just check out the tygon stuff in a different color. Definitely gonna try that 90 degree filter.

I've used this method for years with great success. The only mod I did was to include a tiny, strong little magnet in the filter to (hopefully) attract any rust particles.  It works great.

I agree 100%.   After dealing with rock hard clear plastic stuff and having to replace it each season I'll never go back.

A word about plastic fuel line and ".  There are a lot of people including bike shops that sell a clear fuel line that is not fuel line at all. It is clear vinyl you can get in the hardware store. It does harden. There is a polyurethane that is sold by some sellers which s fine for a couple of years. It is more the heat that hardens it than the fuel.

Some Auto parts stores have sold windshield washer hose as a fuel line.

The point is be careful what you buy.
