Did I buy the wrong jets for the cb500 carb?
« on: December 23, 2015, 05:03:48 AM »
Hi, i'm installing Uni Air Filter pods to a '77 CB550k3 w/ a CB500 Keihin 627b carb. After reading several posts re: pods and exhaust upgrades, i decided that an up-jet is a must for this build.

However, I think i may have ordered the wrong set of jettings for the CB500 Keihin 627b carb. I ordered this (1st pic):
www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Keihin-Carburetor-Round-Main-Jet-105-Honda-Carb-99101-393-1050-/172030070021?vxp=mtr

I think I should have ordered this (2nd pic):
www.ebay.com/itm/191417041014

Am I right? Should I have the ones I ordered replaced?

The "Secondary Main Jet" title in the ad threw me off. I thought i was looking for a primary/main jet. In almost all posts in this forum, no one ever said that I had to upgrade to new "Secondary main jets", people would always say main jets. :(

Buy all your jets from the link flybox posted. That company sells GOOD quality jets.

I also removed the internal baffles of the stock 4 into 4 exhaust. I was planning to get 2 sets of jettings for insurance, 105's and 110's...should i get 110's and 115's instead?

you could do that to be safe (110,115) but 110 is probably ok.  more important is to move the needle clip down (same as raising needles) one notch.
