Working model of CB SOHC motor
« on: December 23, 2015, 03:03:30 PM »
Many years ago, Aerostitch had a working model CB 750 motor in their catalog. It was a scale model that operated on batteries and all the parts spun around. An internet search has yielded zip. Does anyone know of a source for this model? Back when I saw it, it was Halloween everyday while I lived in the HD world.

You fail at internet.   ;)

I have this kit. Someday I'll assemble it.

It's 1/3 scale.

I assembled that kit in 1973...............then lost it after a few moves.  I have seen more than one kit in a box at some swap-meets.

OK, I'll throw down the gauntlet to the machinists among us...who will be the first to make one like it that actually RUNS!?
:D

There used to be a young machinist at the machine-building place I worked for 14 years who did this very thing. He started with a Sterling engine (which ran from hot water he would heat in the microwave, then pour it in, and away it would go, for 30 minutes, very cool). He made a miniature V-6 engine that ran for a little while, but the oiling system was total-loss, so it finally burned the bearings and quit. He was working on a 1/10 scale of a Ford engine (I've forgotten which one) when I last saw him. I teased him about making a 750 engine, but he wouldn't take me up on it.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

Here’s a CB750 cutaway engine that SOHC moderator SteveD CB500F wrote a blog about:

think the 400 four engine is a miniture engine.
...the small pistons looks like toys stuff..or moped parts..its just a fun engine to Work on..thinking intern friktion eats all power this small pistons make...then think that Honda made a 200 cc prototype of that engine...i can emg vhy thet left it..350/4 vas absulut smallest for normal road use(in normal rpm range)
i kan not speak english/but trying!!
