1976 KZ900
« on: January 02, 2016, 04:16:56 AM »
I've got both my sons trained pretty good I have to say ;) When they stumble across a 70's motorcycle Honda or other wise they let me know. Here is a Kawasaki KZ900 , to bad its not a Z1.The owner says its a 1976 and the mileage is in the 30K range and runs good but its not for sale :( He has several other bikes in his stable also. Pics aren't the best but you can see bike looks very clean and in good shape. But is not original by no means, paint, pipes, pods, etc, etc. How about the checker board pattern on the rear ;D Ok Stev-o and others what would be a fair $$ amount for this KZ if the owner has a change of heart down the rode and decides to unload it.

Hey dhall......'76 was the last year of the 900, then the motor displacement was increased to 1000cc.

Although it's a KZ, it is very similar to the Z1 but not even close to being collectible and therefore prices are much more reasonable.   Looks to be in pretty good condition, Kerker was a common pipe and very good, I'd value that bike at $2500, if running good with title.
Of course, he may think it's worth more (hopeful?!) but I've seen similar for 2 grand or so.
The checkerboard does not help value!

I came close to buying one before I bought my Z, but held out.  Jump on the chance to ride one, I think you would really like it.

Not a good comparison to the bike you posted, but shows they can be had for cheap.  A Z1 in this cond would be worth 3 times......

Wish I could get a Z900 for that price, in Australia that bike would cost around $8000 buck and upwards.
Some of the Z1 Jaffa bikes have been for for $25k which is stupid money I don't care how good and original it would be.

Ha ha, it doesn't look like you need any more bikes Rocky! You're right though, I recently almost bought a "Mongrel" 1974 Z1 that had been extensively modified (no cutting and welding though) for around $5K, but it would have cost another $10K to bring it back to minty condition, and honestly, I owned a 1975 Z900 back in the 80's, and while it crapped all over any CB750, they're more desirable nowadays for their gorgeous looks than for any real performance. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)
