It's snowing!
« on: December 27, 2015, 11:31:06 AM »
Sitting here in my den watching the snow come down.

First real snow of the year for me.  The weatherman been talking rain and gloom all week, no indication of snow - now, heavy snowfall.  It's not sticking of course, I doubt it's even below 40 outside.

Still it's fun to watch when you're on vacation.

Seattle, although looks like the snow passed and now it's just --- rain. :'(

Bummer, still it was fun while it lasted - even have a dusting in the yard from it.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Kyle! I fired up Eva & took a little ride yesterday before the rain came in around here. Was talking with my brother up there in Auburn on Christmas Eve and he was grumping about not getting any snow yet for his plowing biz.
He was hoping to make enough this season to pay for his new truck & plow. I warned him to be carefull what he wished for! From today's weather report it looks like you folks are going to get hit tomorrow with a real winter mix. Going to be a real roller-coaster ride this winter from the looks of things!

How about a tornado in Modesto, Ca.? Took out a large tree that took out a telephone pole that dominoed 12 other poles. Missed driving through it by about 5 minutes and didn't even know it occurred. Just found out about it 15 minutes ago from the internet and it was 2 days earlier (Christmas eve). We did see hail all over the car after coming out from shopping but didn't connect it with a tornado. Freaky stuff this El Nino is for sure!!

The dog sure loved playing in it.

You got that right, Breezey! Strongest one in 50 yrs. and plenty of surprises in store yet, I'm sure.  All the more reason everyone should have at least a 72 hr survival stash bare minimum for power outages. When I was still living up in the middle of the Finger Lakes region of NY there was a late spring freezing rain storm that took out power to a major part of the Rochester suburbs for almost a month!

Put together a stash and be discreet about it. Tell no one, and if you have a family caution them to keep quite about it. Unfortunately extreme situations do not always bring out the best in people. Even those you would normally consider a trusted neighbor!  :o :(

Good suggestions Dana. I have a good friend that is quite serious about what you are talking about. He takes this stuff to a whole different level. He's more focused on an apocalypse than weather. I'm talking a computer free vehicle, guns/ammo, medical supplies, tons of food that he cycles through to keep up to date, same with water, plus numerous other items. People that know him think he is kinda weird about it but............maybe he has a good point. He will be prepared for the worst.... (Zombies)??? :o

Just got a text from a buddy of mine in OK & it's snowing like hell there now. Went on line to Accuweather.com and took a look at the doppler map. Looks like my brother up west of Syracuse is going to get some plowing biz. Serious "Wintermix" heading their way. Heads up, Chewie! It's coming your way now!

As for the Zombies...just saw a Jeep with what looked to be a factory orig. decal on the rear "Zombie Response Vehicle"! ;D

No snow here.  Fine by me it can stay where it is for the rest of the winter.  I think California could use a nice Buffalo style storm!  That would be great.  Maybe people people will start moving back here and bring some jobs with them.

Here that hipsters.  We welcome you!  First latte on me

We are getting the much needed moisture Chewy. I think my state could spare some people to send to you. You probably wouldn't care for a lot of them though!!

So long as they are productive send them my way.  Hope the weather does not get too crazy.  Just checked out the updated forecast.

I could not find an image of a Hipnado or I would have posted that.  Imagine the law suite with all that 195 degree Starbucks traveling at 200 MPH. ha,ha,ha

My daughter (34yrs. old) may be Starbuck's poster child. She goes at least 4 times a week. She is a California girl. You can't really blame this state though. Starbucks came from Seattle!!!

Just made it out of the big New Mexico blizzard over the weekend. The I-40 was still shut down today eastbound. Luckily, I was traveling west to Sedona.

It's a beautiful sight, smell....all that stuff. However it does kinda suck to live in it......especially when the temp. dips below zero! Also no fun combined with wind.
