Hey John....obviously condition is everything but $2K for an RZ in good cond sounds like a deal to me.

Only made two years, You dont see a lot of these for sale. There are a couple on ebay, priced at $6000 & $8000 but all that means is they are not selling for cheap.

Here is my buddy Paul's bike, he's had it a few years and is in mint cond. However, not in running condition. He's a weird bird, has about 13 bikes, most are INSIDE his home [hes unmarried!] and doesnt ride. I give him sh!t for this and tell him I can get it running!

Thanks guys. You know how it goes. One look says it all. Controlling emotions is another.

Could be a diamond in the rough or a complete mess. I was told very clean and we both were laughing about the shid on CL. He did say "oh no, nothing like that". Just guessing what the bike actually looks like at this time. Could walk in, take a look, SOLD.  :o

I'll have cash in pocket. No running back to the Bank on this one.  ;)

The Griso is one sexy bike, though I am partial to Guzzis.

How 'bout a Tenni Griso SE?

My vote is for the RZ, especially if you have no desire for long distance touring. Nothing like a high-revving light-weight two-stroke to get your blood pumping! ;D
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

That model is when I fell in love. This one is the 1200SE. 2014 with 6K, OEM Guzzi bags and mounts.

This is behind curtain number two if the RZ falls thru. So far I'm down to $8700 with bags and mounts. We are in communication.

It will be first of next week before I can get a peak at the RZ. Going to Bank tomorrow for funding just in case it happens over the weekend. Scheduling issues as they both work. I have all kind of time, just waiting.

Finally, progress!

The plan is tomorrow morning going to look at it. It's the Red/White model. Was hoping yellow but it's all good. Seller has owned it for 20 plus years so history should be good. Was riding it until recently when he bought a HD. Not sure what recently actually means.

So, unless something changes will see.  ::)

Why yes, yes I did!

However....

Well, the seller repeated over and over make me an offer. I couldn't make one, it needs that much work. Dented tank, different shades of paint which most wasn't the original color. The real kicker was at some point when the exhaust was mounted someone broke the side stand mount weld then re-welded the plate higher up rendering the kick stand useless. As he pointed this out the left exhaust wiggled around. Dented fuel tank and more issues, believe me. 30K on the clock. Sure they were hard miles also.

Even at $500 you would have more in it then buying one already somewhat done. Sad really but as we all know typical.

I told him I would think about it just to be polite. He will never straighten it out, doesn't have the funds and the bike is in need of everything. "IF" I ever hear back $500 is the most I would do just for the parts in case another one crossed my path.

Three (3) pictures was all I could bear. (large images)

Well, we kick started and it does have compression. Been a long time since running. Couple of years I thought he said. Did drain the tank. Had a few spare parts and the only plus is the Yamaha factory service manual. Guess I should of made an offer on that alone.  ;D

No, I don't need that project. Frame off, Engine rebuild, Paint, Decals, Bodywork, Parts, lot of time, lot of money.

Man, if that bike had a clean title, was nearby, and could be had for $500, it would be in my shop by now?!!

No, you're reading into it wrong. No price was discussed. I told him I would think about it. Let the seller ponder. If I'm contacted again my offer is $500. It is titled, it is a mess.

It is in need of everything not to mention the motor probably needs a refresh.

I have been pondering this all morning. Which way to go, AM bodywork, take it to the frame and make it a one year build, just don't know.

Just for giggles I'll call Todd today and offer $500 for everything. I want a project and this would be one. I estimate 2K to make it right, painting I can get for a case of beer. Just paint it all one color and forget about originality. Maybe the dented tank can be fixed, just don't know at this time.

It just sits and will never get attended to in my book. Pictures don't really show the details. I saw oil running out of both lower cases and the frame mount for the side stand was a botched job. Grind it off and be done with it. Forgot to mention the shifter lever was bent 90 degrees also.

The front fender is original even without the typical masked black but the wheels im not sure about. They did not look repainted to me but most were gold in color, or at least I thought so.

Which way would you go? I know originality is preferred but maybe not on this one.

Something huh?

Plenty of AM bodywork for these, both painted and unpainted.

Well, I'm sure open to thoughts and suggestions as I am sitting on the fence.

Offer him $500....who knows?   I know you like super clean, original bikes, so I can understand why this bike is a turn off.
FYI - it's been sitting, and may need crank seals, the motor will need to be split to replace them.  Not an easy/cheap job.

Maybe go check out that GPz 550, that thing looks real clean! Or did it sell?

I don't mind a bike that needs a little work Steve. Other than the exhaust (no biggie) and air cleaner assembly it's all there. Everything that is there is in need.  Yes, I factored in an engine refresh also. With condition and 30K on the clock it would be foolish not to.

It's a lot rougher than the pictures, believe me. Neglected and trashed, left side of tank dented, broken signals, levers, shifter arm bent 90 degrees, oil here, oil there, everything in need of paint. Flat tires (no biggie), leaking forks, gouged rotors, frame welded on, carburetors, cables, chain, sprockets. I could go on.

Will see if a lower price works out in a few days. I was told $1500 is the lowest he will go. I passed. Will see if a lower price comes about.

Kawasaki is still for sale, looks clean but not for me. I'll keep looking.

Move on.    Find yourself a nice dust-covered original, un-molested bike that just needs brought back.   They're only original once.
