Christmas Ride - WI
« on: December 25, 2015, 03:50:53 PM »
Not to often do we have no snow and 37 in WI on Christmas. Got a nice ride in today, but I digress...it was on the Wing :)  Nevertheless, it was great to get out. Anyone else get out for short one?

That's a great pic John, I'm watching Fox news as I type this, and I see that you guys have had some weird weather for this time of the year, but hey, if you can get a ride in, well done! That 'Wang looks beautiful too mate, so clean!

It's Boxing Day here (the day after Christmas) and was raining this morning after 90-110 deg F weather in the last week, but it's fine and mild now, so I'm torn between installing the new shocks on my Harley Sportster, or taking my BMW R1100GS for a ride. Maybe I'll do both! Merry Christmas! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Had my GL1800 in for the brake recall and rode it back home on Thursday.  I would have gone for a short ride but was raining slightly and had some things to do, but none the less, I rode!  ;D
Quite unusual for this time of year in northern Illinois.

Nice to hear some of us got out there. Terry...110...wow. That could tend to be unbearable even on a bike. Or are you used to riding in that heat? Steve...what was the brake recall about on your Wing? My 1500 had a recall back in 2000 for soft rotors.

The brake recall required replacement of the secondary master cylinder due to it locking up the rear caliper with the linked brakes.  Mine never experienced this, but Honda was politely blaming poor maintenance and insufficient brake breeding for the problems.
Like I said, at least I got to ride for the few miles home that day.  :)

G'Day John, no mate, 110 is too hot for riding, I've done it of course, but it's not nice. When I had my first "K" series BMW, a K100RT in 1990, I rode it to an army course I was doing on a 100 deg F (+) day, and sitting at the lights the thermo fan came on, blasting hot air into my face, and I almost fainted. It gets so hot the tarmac actually melts, and riding on that is probably like riding in the snow, not fun.

I'm not going to ride in either extreme of temps any more, I've got aircon (and a heater) in my car, and I'll just keep the bikes for nice days. Cheers, Terry. ;D
