RIP John 'Brad' Bradbury
« on: December 29, 2015, 02:46:21 PM »
Not many people here will know who Brad was, but members in the UK and Ireland from a certain time will surely remember The Specials and Brad the drummer, who produced hits such as "Message to you Rudi" and "Ghostown".

After race meetings and with copious beers, we used to jape to such music. The fabric of the day.

So long mate.

We got the specials on college radio here in the deepest darkest heart of amerika.

Long story short the local DJ got fired when his Friday radio show fell on x-mas eve and he played songs like Fukc Christmas. A regent who tuned in expecting Classic Caroling type music discovered punk rock on the university airwaves and was apalled at what he heard.  When they took injunctive measures that night the DJ didn't suck up to the will of the regent and was forever banned circa 1983.

Now he's back on the airwaves as of a couple years ago playing the same music from the late '70's and '80's. :)

He has two shows now.  I think you can probably tune in on the interwebs.

Feckit Simon, it was not much better in Ireland "back in that day" either. Thankfully there was good music, motorbikes, and virginal women to sustain us !

One of these days we will have to say there are no more heroes. Personally I'm telling my ex Something better change before there are 96 tears.

Doubt she will get the message.
