Topic: CB200 1974 - Value Question?

Hi!

My name is Andy, I am a fairly new poster but long time reader of the forums.  I currently own and work on a cb750 1975 that i have been having a lot of fun with.  My girlfriend has been looking at bikes for a while and we found one that i think would be perfect for her (and matches mine in colors and almost in year!).  It is a cb200 1974 - everything on it is stock and its a single owner.  The gas tank seems to have some rust in it, carbs will most likely need a good cleaning and possible rebuild, and the front brake needs a rebuild.  Other than that i cant really see anything wrong with it based on the couple things i was able to check out when we went to see it.  My question for the forum is what i should pay for this bike?  We talked him down to 750, does this seem like a good price for a bike like this?  Are we practically stealing it from them / vice versa?  Anything on these bikes that i should pay particular attention to / problems they are notorious for having? Unfortunately the only image i have is below where half of my stupid head is in the way but you get the idea.

I dont know what your regional prices are like, but you can find 750,s for that much here if you hunt a bit.
 It looks pretty clean though, that brings prices up.. How many miles ? Use the tank and carb work, and recovered seat as bargaining tools..

Around these parts $750 wouldn't be too bad for a stock, single owner bike.

The CB200's are kinda unloved because many folks don't find them very attractive.

That's a good price, particularly if it still has stock exhaust.
I'd jump on it.

As an aside, my CB200 is just about the most FUN bike to ride that I ever had.

Thank you for the advice and responses!  It does have the stock exhaust, title, single owner,  i will definitely jump on it in hopes to keep my cool girlfriend !

Good choice.  Tank can be sealed if necessary, brakes serviced and tires (if old) is no biggie. 

Be sure to post a pic of the big smile on her face when you give it to her!

 I think the front brake only needs greasing.. Its a cable actuated disc brake..not sure how, but i suspect a multi start threaded ramp system..
