'13 honda accord
« on: January 06, 2016, 10:36:26 PM »
I bought a used accord with 58,000 miles, the 4 cyl and cvt trans. it has 42,000 miles and a year of powertrain warranty. 12/12 bumper to bumper. I can get an extended warranty for $700-$800 that's good until 2020, if I do it tomorrow. I'm not usually into buying warranties but it jerked while accelerating an hour after I got it home. Now I'm nervous but also wondering if my wife hit the paddle shifter.
It's a certified car but I know the tech's get pressure from the office to sign off on everything. What do you guys think?

I'd say take it out drive it like you stole it and see if it does it again that said under hard acceleration even the CVTs will jerk while downshifting

You can bet I'll wring it out, just for testing purposes of course. I did enjoy watching the mileage computer a lot more than the one in my 8.1 liter crew cab duallie with the 28' race  trailer on the hitch.

CVTs don't have any gears to downshift into.  I guess you meant to say decelerating?

They still have a kick down under hard acceleration to reduce load on the engine I have driven a cople of cvt cars and they are nice and smooth but when you realy put your foot in to it they feel like they are shifting and as stated befor she might have hit the downshift paddle causing it to jerk

She thinks she didn't bump the paddle but the jury is out. It was good all day.  It is wierd it has paddle shifters on a cvt trans. I guess a computer tells it where to shift to

That is correct and they are the same points used for the kick down
