Light's
« on: May 28, 2005, 09:30:50 PM »
Hey All,
I just got my headlight bucket and headlight mounted. The bike won't stay running because of a weak battery. It dies as soon as I take the jumper cables off. When the headlight wasn't connected it would stay runing. Is the headlight suppost to be on all the time? The front running light's are on also but the back one's are off. The tail light and brake light work's.

The bike's alternator doesn't make enough power at idle to run all the electrics, and relies on battery storage to keep things going.  When the engine revs up past 1.5 -2K it should make enough power to run the electrics and charge the battery.

It's best to use a fully charged before starting and just use the bike to maintain it during driving.

Also, the stock headlight is 40/50w.  Is your replacement headlight of a higher wattage?  If so, your weak battery will drain even faster at idle.  And, the engine speed to charge the battery will need to be even higher.

There was no Headlight/Running light switch for the 78 model.  Always on with the ignition key on.

Not sure on the power rating of the bulb. It was in my  72 500. It seam's pretty bright. Sylvania 2JD, sealed beam. I'm thinking of doing the H4 upgrade.

Well i am not even sure you can find a lower wattage bulb these days. Most everything is higher. I run a halogen and if the battery is in good shape, you should never have a problem. If you are taking off the jumper and the bike dies right away with light on, how long does it run with no light? Even with the light on, the bike should run for quite a while at idle. You could have an old battery or a charging problem.

Your lights are working properly
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

Thank's on the light's.
I don't think my blinker are working. I don't think I can ride my bike for my license if my blinkers are not working. The buzzer goes on and the front blinker light go out and stay off. They don't blink. The rears do nothing.
