I posted  a few times regarding certain aspects of this build somewhere before but I'm just making a whole new thread for this bike.

Wiring is done. Made a nice little underseat electronics tray. Wheels are on. Engine is back in the frame. All of my parts are acquired. I need to make a chain slider as previously mentioned. I am winning an award for heaviest intake manifold ever, but I have to use what I have and know.

I made some flanges out of 3/8 mild steel but I still have to trim them a little. I have these little pipes that I flanged on one end a bit to smooth transition to the plenum. I got a really nice round slide keihin that matches with intake on the turbo perfectly.

I stole those coils for 50$ on eBay. They are older model dynas but they work great.

This weekend I'm trying to finish up my intake manifold and Powdercoat it. I'll post pics of that when I can.

*****Also, I should add, the only thing I did to this frame was cut the tabs for the side panels, assuming I (or whoever owns it in the future) ever wants to bring it back to stock it can all be done with the exception of side covers.

Alrighty... I got what I wanted done today. It's a freaking squeeze even getting a little turbo to sit how I want it. Also, I had an old cutting board that I heated up and bent a bit after shaping it how I wanted it. Perfect chain slider.

hi lost boy , lovely looking work ,  i have a 400/4 turbo , built in '80,

hope you don't mind me picking at something , if you angle the feed to the plenum , you will get no3 running  lean .you could have the stub pointing into the middle of the plenum ,at a right angle to it , or do what i did ,which was to mount the turbo  with the carb on the lhs of the bike ...so the outlet pipe is just above the gearbox,then run it forward to a right angle ,then vertically into the middle of the plenum . it mixes the air /fuel well at the right angle ....,and feed the plenum with  as little velocity bias to any one cylinder as possible .

Thanks Robert! I was waiting for input on that! The way I cut the pipe inside will divert the blast away from  3 or so I hope. I spent about an hour last night trying to figure out what the best spot for the turbo was. Worst case scenario is I redesign it later.

Ok, I've been moving right along. I have a bunch of things made up. I ordered a whole bunch of jets. The exhaust is close to my leg, I won't lie. I'm probably going to have to make up a shield. Other than that, I am going to line the fuel tank with Caswell phenol epoxy. The inside isn't terrible, but I don't want to worry. I've used por in the past but this stuff seems impressive.

No. I have the pipes protruding through tho. The inlet is cut and angled in a way that it looks like it's pointing to an intake port, but it should be diverted, hopefully.

Small update for anyone who cares. I was able to start the bike yesterday even though my turbo oil line isn't done yet. I didnt let it get hot or run long at all, but it idles well on the 60 pilot jet. Its just a starting point. I do have a mini oil pressure gauge that I'm planning on teeing in somewhere as well. I don't have anything else but I thought of all things oil pressure is important to monitor, especially on a boosted application.

It is a Keihin PE38 off of an old early 80's Tacate. It matches perfectly with the turbo inlet. I was looking for a decent round slide 38mm and this is the best I could find. www.jetsrus.com had everything I needed to rebuild it.

Those are actually an eBay purchase. They are for old air cooled vws. I had a really hard time finding the size that I wanted. These fit exactly how they're supposed to.

Got it running last night and checked oil flow. Starts fairly easily but doesn't rev very well. I assume it's very lean and starving for fuel. Again this is the very first run with everything (except the drain) hooked up.

I honestly don't know why more do not follow this route/ So many small turbos and superchargers to choose from now-a-days. I've home-built a turbocharged/fuel injected CB750 DOHC and supercharged/fuel injected a CB750A SOHC and they worked out very well.
 So many "do the talk"...but few "do the walk". Your installation is very pleasing to see. Good on you for going ahead with this.
 Question: Are you using a restrictor on the oil supply to your turbo? If not, you should install a .030" or .035" restrictor so you do not starve the engine of its lube oil or coke up the turbo center cartridge. Mig welding tips work well. Make sure your turbo drain line is at least 1/2" ID and enters the engine above normal crankcase oil level. Also make darn sure your crankcase breathing system is working well and minimal piston ring blow-by...crankcase pressure could prevent proper oil drainage. What compression ratio is your engine?

Thanks. Yes I have a restricter in place and my drain is 5/8th. The engine is otherwise stock.

Are the spark plug wires reversed on the two right side cylinders? The outside cylinder plug wires are attached to one coil, and the inside cylinders to the other coil. Common mistake.. ;)
