Probably around 77 or 78.. Duck Lake, just north of Kelowna airport. Back when we had ice every year.. We dont now.
Studded up 750.. 640 ish screws on the back, 190 ish up front... Got really good traction..wheelied easily..
Lots of fun if the lake had little snow.. 100 mph was pretty common.. Great fun..
We had it in a CMA sanctioned ice race, but with stock pipes...it holeshot everyone, but was hitting the pipes which limited cornering..
Had a lot of fun on that lake, used to build a fire and hang out for most of the day ..... Sigh.... The good old days..

That must have gotten a few stares. Did you ride it from home? Ah, back in the day... boys will be boys. I think you're the only member with an SOHC ice racer.

The first winter I moved to Seattle, I'd ridden my little 836 hot rod to work on a pretty cold day. And then to my surprise, it started snowing. Huh - didn't have those problems when I was stationed in San Diego... I got out of there as ASAP, but it quickly turned into a extremely low speed slush slide ride. I didn't get cold though, as that motor was so hot that it melted all the snow and heated my visor.  :o
I made it home dragging both feet like training wheels and learned to watch the weather report.  ;D

That's really cool Frank. Ice racing, never thought about it much. If a lake  lake freezes solid down here, it would be the end of the world.

Same tires, sheetmetal screws. Not spikes.
Spikes can get obscene traction, but require full fenders for protection, you dont want to get run over by them..lol..

I ran it on the track..handed terrible due to the rake..
Then we put the disc on the front to get it street ready, which has not yet happened..
Had to put something on fir a fender....the high seat was fir riding with your foot down when cornering.. Tried it with a really low seat and one leg takes all your weight and it tires you out quickly..
Has an 836 ir bigger.. Horlt norris cam..runs fairly strong..
