I got the usual bottles of booze (I like booze) and a few other things. I bought myself new Ikon shocks for both the BMW R1100GS and Harley Sportster, plus a new 18 inch rear wheel for the Sporty as well, then I bought a cheap flip up helmet. (yeah I know, if you've got a 10 dollar head, buy a 10 dollar helmet, but my old Nolan only has a DOT label, and over here it needs to have an Australian standards label, and surprisingly the 89 dollar helmet I bought does............)

Not really a Christmas present, but my son brought me home a tool box full of magnificent US/Brit/Aussie tools from the 1950's, sadly most were whitworth, but if I ever buy a British bike, they'll be really handy! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Well my boys pitched in with my wife and got me a motorcycle lift, that was my early Christmas present that I got about a month ago and then I got a couple of new torque wrenches, one inch pound and the other foot pound. What turned out to be the coolest gift was the color blind corrective sunglasses my wife and I got for our oldest son. I have no clue how the science behind them works because when I put them on nothing changed, yellow still looked yellow, blue was still blue and so on but I'm not color blind either however when our son put them on they about blew him away because for the first time in his life he was able to see color. In between all the "is that what that really looks like?" and "WOW" comments it was also a very moving moment that almost brought our 24 year old son to tears especially when he saw the colors of a sunset that evening. I told him to please not wear them while driving until he got over the WOW factor but nope he didn't listen. I got a call from him telling me how he momentarily didn't know what to do when he encountered his first traffic light and saw the green light as actually being green. :) The glasses weren't cheap either but seeing how well the worked for our son they were worth every penny.

Happy for your son, unfortunately for my brother in law who is colourblind they are not suitable.

That's the vid I saw on FB that first got my attention about them. I'm sorry to hear that they're not suitable for your brother in law which is why I strongly suggest anyone that may be interested in them to please do some research on them and ask questions first, color blindness as it turns out comes in all sorts of varieties.  My son got lucky because he just so happened to have a co-worker that had a similar colorblindness and had bought those glasses and allowed my son to try them on, my son essentially got a "test drive" so to speak before any money was spent. Had that not happened we may not have bought them.

That's fascinating Scott, where did you get the colorblind sunnies? I'm color blind too, but not as bad as your son, I have problems distinguishing between black/dark blue/dark green etc, can't read the numbers in a "Confetti" test for crap, etc.

I won a pair of french sunglasses many years ago, they had brown lenses, and they really brightened up the colors of everything for me, I almost had a moment like your son did when he saw color for the first time!

Tell your son that color blind guys are very handy as forward scouts in Special Forces, as they can see "thru" camouflage. What that means is that a color blind guy's brain isn't confused by artificial colors and shapes like that of a guy with normal color perception. Also, color blind guys have got way better night vision than normal guys, so it's almost like a super power, especially now that he can get color perception correcting glasses. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'm also color blind.....

+1.....Can be a pain when wiring up these old Hondas...
The wire I used when I redid my 750 has what it is for written in white lettering so I always know what is what.
