Primary chains question/research - found them for 39eu... SWAG-30-93-9962

I posted this in my thread in Project shop... but this is probably better place...


Because I will upgrade the engine power I was digging about parts I will need. I see people are using HD primary chains and that people are really happy about those chains. In my search I come across this blog

http://www.breganzane.com/workshop/chains_primary.php it is about Laverda SOHC 750s...

Similar bike to cb750 and people there are using two IWIS G67HP(pitch) simplex chains instead duplex and triplex chains because they say it is a better and stronger solution. Btw primary chains for cb750 are standard ISO/ANSI chains 3/8 x 7/32‘‘ but with thicker chain plates... This chain looks very similar to HD primary chains...
The best part is that there is an endless chain IWIS G67HP with 68 links for BMWs

the price is 30 eu per chain. Can be found cheaper...

Also I did more digging and I found specs for IWIS chains(IWIS is making only timing chains... German company... part of SWAg company)

and there you can see there are even 2 better chains... First G68HPF­2... again very similar specs like HD chains...
I only found this with 72 links... so it needs to be shorten 4 links....

50eu... but can be found for 35eu....

And also there is this G68VH... stronger then previous 2(tensile strength) but smaller pin diameter.

Last two chains are for Audis...

My question is.. did anybody else came across this? Or did someone use this chains?

Keep digging. Good research. Those EXPENSIVE heavy duty chains are probably coming from a German manufacturer and are too pricey IMO especially in light of getting a set of Honda primary chains from Yamiya out of Japan for ~ $70.

I will call tomorrow part dealers for Audi. I will ask for quotes... I know a shop which can shorten endless chains...
Will ask for G68HPF­2 chain... they look completely the same like HD chains.

So... price for the chain of 72 links G68HPF­2 is 43eu. I am still trying to find cheaper one.

Also I talked with company that is producing chains. Every endless chain can be shortened with basic tools. Hamer, chisel etc... No need for shop to shorten the chain

I am waiting for a quote for 5 meters of that chain

but... I am pretty sure that G67HP chain can be used. And it is 25eu for 68 link chain so no need for shortening.

43 euro is a good price for the G68HPF­2, I paid about 5 times that for heavy duty primary chains from Europe...

43eu is the price for one chain. I am pretty sure this are the HD chains. But there is always a possibility that I am wrong. Audi part number is 059 109 229 M

Yeah please. We'd all like to build with HD chains but I find no reason other than greed to rape us over those now available.

I had already discovered the IWIS connection but had not taken it as far as MM has.
Will try to dig out a set of the "high dollar" chains tomorrow and see if the model number is on the side plate.

Also pay attention order just SWAG-IWIS chain!!! Because there are also other chain manufacturers of this chain and I see that bushing on theirs chain is not seamless.

Kenny says his HD chains have 'rollers' but they do NOT roll and are 'fixed'. That in itself would prevent me from using his.

Yes IWIS chain is also "bush chain"... it doesn't have a roller.... thats way HD chains on pictures have bigger pin. And it is the main advantage of "bush chain" over classical "roller chain"(original Honda chain is a roller chain).
