I think it's $21.29 more expensive than the one I posted.

They are also called dampener valves. They are necessary to dampen the gauge needle fluctuation - screw the plastic adjusters all the way in so you don't loose them while putting the tubes onto them. With everything hooked up and the engine running, turn them out until the needle is moving, then back in until the needle fluctuation is only slight.

The metering valves are the little (usually) white knobs/valves in the hoses, about two inches below the gauges. Like jonda said, their purpose is to "calm down" the vacuum signal enough to keep the needles from jumping around wildly. All this sounds hard or exotic, but if you ever saw someone do it just once...

Here we go!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/380985152644?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

those dampers are split three ways so wont I loose some accuracy if i have one tube going in and the other in in the gauge meaning one is left open? or is that the point?

The gauges in that listing don't seem to have the dampening valves - mine came with four white plastic valves, two long brass tubes and two short,
John
p.s. I had to cut the rubber tubes to insert the valves just below the gauges
- I used a lawnmower fuel tank and a tee piece

That listing has them. Tools are always a good investment. Shop around and you'll find a decent deal.

I have one that I got off eBay for $20. It's fine. I bet the $15 one would be just fine, too. Maybe also check craigslist.
