K5 main jet questions
« on: January 22, 2016, 06:52:18 PM »
So I've got a K5 with a modified engine... Problem is that I only know that it was a bore job with new pistons and rings but I don't know the exact specifications.  I'm looking to put on a 4-4 exhaust and should I just use 105's since that is the stock jet size? Carbs were rebuilt with 110's for mains (with a 4-2 exhaust and that was running rich when I put the bike away for the winter and started working on it. Carbs are 657B

If it works good, it looks good...

My stock exhaust equipped K5 run better with 110 main then the 105. It had Andrews coils and MaxiDwell points and you could probably weld with the spark it had, so fouled spark plugs were not even possibility.

assuming that filter is in the stock airbox...I would start tuning with the 110's.  My guess is it will certainly be rideable with the 110's.  Be SURE your fuel level in the bowl is correct before you start tuning.  I have ended up with anything from 105 to 120 on similar combinations
