I'm working on getting a cb350f back on the road. It's sat leaning against the side of a garage since 1978... On Saturday I pulled the rear tire off the rim as I need to replace the spokes. It had four broken ones! The rim was in good shape, very little rust, but I discovered this very odd bulge on the inside.
The outside of the rim is dead straight. I laid it on a flat surface and put a light inside the rim. Nothing shines out. I also rolled the rim to see if it wobbled over the section in question - still nothing. It seems the rim is perfect other than the inside. Has anyone seen this before? I'm worried about how it would affect the tire seating on the rim. What do you think, safe to use or not?
