Sean Penn, Idiot?
« on: January 11, 2016, 02:30:29 PM »
So, you get the world's most heinous criminal to sit for an interview with you. A guy who has an army of henchmen and has no problem cutting body parts off people for a good chuckle. A guy who has the power and funds to build a movie grade tunnel escape from a max security prison, (OK it's Mexico, but still pretty ballsey). And you, Sean Penn, are now associated to the reason that they found him. Oh, and rumor is he will now be extradited to The States so that will make him extra happy. All this for a Rolling Stone article. Hec, I was surprised that magazine still even existed.

Couldn't have happened (future tense) to a more deserving guy (he's a POS human). Why in the world was the interview even sanctioned? Says more about the lack of character of the magazine and the interviewer, than it does to indict the subject. All 3 deserve each other in my book.

When I first saw news about Penn interviewing whats his name El Chapo before he was "captured" the first thought that came to my mind was WTF was Penn doing interviewing the guy? As it turns out many others were asking the exact same thing and I guess Penn is possibly in deep sh.t because of it.

Meh...  interviewing an infamous criminal on the lam is legitimate journalism, it's just that Penn isn't a legitimate journalist. I don't think el Chapo's people are going to go after him or Kate del Castillo, who set it up -- after all he agreed to it. Just dumb on everyone's part.

I heard El Chapo wanted Penn to make a bio pic of his life.

And apparently, they were doing shots of tequila....

Idiot? I don't think so. He got caught because of it. May have been the real reason for the interview 'for the movie'. El Chumpo was the idiot.

Because liberals deserve to die I guess? Could be a popular part of Trump's campaign: "I vow to kill all liberal pukes."

What part don't you like, just out of curiosity? I mean, sure, he's cocky and a bad writer, but aside from acting chops he seems to do his share of charity work and activism, e.g. Haiti.

I'm not sure how this one will work out but it seems the proceeds for this type of collaboration would be an illegal gain from an illegal enterprise. Murderers can't make money off their stories either.

It would be nice to see the film knowing that proceeds went to relief for the peasants that were under his wing.

I'm really glad they caught this piece of #$%*, and I don't really care if Sean Penn was trying to bait him or if he was just trying to get an interview. Either way I'm glad Sean Penn did what he did. Why he did it doesn't really concern me. I think way too many people were interested in El Chapo's wearabouts and story and saying that an interview had no value would just be a flat out lie.

My suspicion is that Sean Penn was in on him being caught. If he had given an interview with El Chapo and Chapo dissapeared again into the abyss everyone would be crucifying Sean Penn and Rolling Stone magazine for damn near aiding and abetting this sack of #$%*. The #$%*ty part is Sean Penn has to deny being in on it and write a piece that comes off like a naive love struck school girl otherwise his next star role will be in a #$%*ty vertical cell phone video with a supporting cast of actors with names like Joker and Puppet.

There's a good chance that what he did was actually heroic and everyone will mock him for doing it because he can't flat out admit involvement.

Then again I could be completely wrong.

Given Sean Penn's history, my money is on this. He is not an altruistic philanthropist. He's been a heavy drug user, alcoholic, domestic abuser, has raised a kid into the same fold, and cavorts with dictators (Hugo Chavez). Hardly a Saint, and very likely not at all heroic.

His father was blackballed under McCarthy and some believe he (Sean) has held anti-social, anti-American positions ever since. Professing to be a legitimate interviewer, his interview indicts Chapo's users for creating the demand, essentially calling all of them (users) complicit in Chapo's heinous deeds. Yeah, he's an undercover heroic mole. Not.

But I do agree, great that Chapo is caught again. Let's just see if they can keep hold of him this time, and maybe Penn and he can share a cell.

Look, Penn may be a lot of things but he did it because he probably wanted to talk to Chapo face to face and get the story from the horses' mouth. He doesn't really care for the opinions of most people and he wants to find out and talk to people himself. Think of him what you will but he won't blindly accept the party line of what a government says.

I don't agree with his most of his views but I admire that quality of discovering for yourself what you want to think by actually talking to controversial people. He didn't like how aid was getting to people in Haiti? He went there himself to see what he can do. How many of you out there have the fortitude to do something like that yourself? My Guess? Not many.

To be fair, the majority of us don't have nearly the same resources as he does. If I won the 1.3 billion dollar lotto and didn't have to work I'd probably do what he does out of sheer boredom.
