New from Brooklyn,NY
« on: January 14, 2016, 07:25:31 AM »
Hey everyone,
I live in Brooklyn, New York and I'm new to riding.  I've always wanted a 70's Honda CB motorcycle.  Riding my BICYCLE all around NYC for the last 13 years, I started my search for my CB. In October I found a 78CB750F  in New Jersey with the right price and bought it.  Went and got my learners permit because I HAVE NEVER RIDDEN A MOTORCYCLE BEFORE.  Taught myself how to ride in Orange County, New York and also went to MSS to dial in proper habit.  blah blah blah

FAST FORWARD:

I've put over 1,000 miles on the bike since I brought her home to Brooklyn.  I'm having the time of my life and learning so much everyday.  The bike runs great other then the charging issues(I'm learning that that can be a common battle).   Its getting very cold out and I'm holding on to keep riding(will not ride in icy condition's).

2016 winter/spring goals:
-piant tank
-change 4-in-1 exhaust to 2-in-2 exhaust
-solve charging system issue (already replaced taillight fuse, R/R, blinker relay x2, and battery)
-new seat
-new blinkers
-rear fender
-new handle grips
-maybe different handlebars

I will be having quite a few questions for yu's in the coming months.  I will do my best to look at old posts for answers in efforts not to clutter the forum with repeats.

thanks

Welcome from Texas.

Have a question for you:

Are there more stock bikes or cafe bikes around Brooklyn?

We hare having a discussion about the cafe craze on another thread and Jag just happened to mention Brooklyn!

Welcome from Westchester County. My favorite place to ride is Orange County.

It is amazing to ride upstate, to much stop and go in the city.  I like to get on the highways super early Saturday and Sunday mornings to open it up and get more quality riding in before the chance of traffic.  Come spring, I will be making my first ride up to Storm King.

what year is that?

would you be interested in selling your seat?  I'm looking for that very style seat.

In the area of Brooklyn I'm in I would have to say more stock.  and I don't see that many 750's. A lot more 550's. However, it being winter most bikes are in garages.  Right now on my 2 mile ride to work I pass 4 parked cb550's but not sure of the years.

Welcome from Westchester County. My favorite place to ride is Orange County.
When you are ready, just hit me up. I have some Bros to ride with. We have some nice rides and decent places to hang.

Hi Trenchgrinder...I love that seat  too much to sell.  I believe it is stock pan and foam cut down with a custom upholstered cover.  Corbin Gunfighter has a similar look though...not sure if it is still available.
If it works good, it looks good...

There's a member over on the Honda Twins forum that does custom seats - I can't vouch for his work, I've never used him, but his stuff looks pretty good. He's always looking for business.

ha, thought I'd ask. it looks comfy, is it?  I may project that with the ugly saddlemen double seat that was on the bike when I bought it.
