Here's a good source for carb boot clamps!
« on: January 03, 2016, 10:42:01 AM »
Hey everyone. I wanted to just share a good source for anyone that wants to ditch the Phillips screw style clamps for their carbs and upgrade to a clamp that can be properly tightened with a 6mm nut driver or a flat head screwdriver. I've used these on a few 750's with great success. The 32-50mm range is what you want. They are the same size and width as OEM clamps and $12.20 for a pack of 10 is a sweet deal.

I use hose clamps meant for radiator hoses from the auto parts store

I will not use the worm drive clamps that have the notches that come in contact with the rubber. Look at the factory clamp design. Norma makes them like OEM with correct width. my first pick or Honda then Norma. But that is just me.

What size of these style clamps would you use on the air box intake boots 74' CB 750 K4 ?

Is the size that you mentioned in this Post for the intake manifolds ?

These are Norma clamps and the 32-50mm ones have notches that face out some they don't touch the rubber boot.

Yes the ones I mentioned are for the intake boots. I think you should measure the size of your airbox boots and that will tell you which one of these will work. The intake boots are a bit more crucial to have a tight fit because the rubber is so thick and a rolled edge clamp like these ones I posted works just like OEM and doesn't dig into the rubber.

I use these and they work great. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036R4UDC/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details?tag=viglink21052-20

I think those are pretty much the same ones.

Yep these are also what I use. I bought a set of 8 from one certain Cafe Racer business... WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.

Then one stripped so I bought these ones. Exact same. Much cheaper.

I used these on my 550...

...you have to orient the "spring" so it doesn't interfere with the carb rack and I did cut off the left over tag end.

Looks good, works great and would buy them again. They are pictured on the engine side. The clamps on the pods came with the Uni's. I may even order another set for the Uni's and spares since they are so inexpensive.

Works fine on both sides of the carbs.

Oh man, I just spent $17 on 4 clamps and felt good about it last week. Wish I saw this thread first.

Most of that certain Cafe Racer's "products" are way too expensive and not even specialized items, but people must be buying that #$%*.

The ABA branded clamps are used by Volvo, Saab, and BMW and can be found for more than those on Amazon but far cheaper than the ones shown in the original poster's link if that was for 1 Clamp in the website's clamp range.
Eeuroparts.com is the place I would buy them from... Or ipd when included with a kit like a hose kit with water pump or radiator hoses for my old Volvo 240s.

I have used a set of NORMA 32-50 since the middle of the 80's for my carb boots. They fit perfect on the boots, not too wide and tighten evenly, not getting oval (oval clamp=leak)  when tighten hard.

Maybe useful clamp designs here?

That price is for a package of 10 clamps.
