I emailed Mike and Bill and haven't heard back from them. So I called Rockdale, and they seems knowledge and nearby.  they quoted me $250 to bore out the cylinders.  As I need to bring the new pistons with me, I need to buy them.  Being a newbie in the piston world I asked their recommendations : forged and a brand name such as Wiseco.  I'm tore as to buy the $130 kit from cruzinimage on eBay, or pony up.  I assume the cruzinimage pistons are cast, so heavier & great variance in size. Wiseco are a bit out of my budget. Does anyone have a bad experience with pistons? BTW - are the originals? cast or forged?

Stock are cast, as are the CruzinImage. Many, many members use the CI kit and have reported very good success. Unless you're really building up a high horsepower motor, the Wiseco/CI weight difference is irrelevant.

Bill has been ill for about two weeks (posted on another thread) and Mike works full time and can take a couple of days to get back to you. But when he does, and when does his magic, it's well worth the wait.

So if you're uber-pressed, go with the shop you found.

There's a 16 page thread dedicated to the cruzinimage 836 kit on ebay:

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,89779.0.html

cruzinimage now offers 2nd over (61.5mm) and 4th over (62mm) kits as well for $100 for a set of four pistons and rings. I've got a test mule here that may get a set of second over pistons after honing the bores to size myself.  8)

Dont buy pistons till your cylinders are proper measured, you need to be sure to get the correct size. I prefer to let the machinist do this.

Although I plan to use the CI piston kits on a rebuild, the last two [Kawasaki] motors I have rebuilt have been with forged Wisecos.
