Bad honda! Strange oil leak... [With pic's!!!]
« on: October 29, 2006, 12:18:46 PM »
??? After long ride i spotted some oil at the ground.
The carter seems dry. The only real wet spot seems to be at the excaust collector 2x 2in1.

I've seen that on the other side the pipe is welded. I wonder if it's a real fast needed fix :(

Or can i drive it for some months? Ow i also wonder from where does the oil come? Maybe unburned fuel?

Under all that is some pluged off machined holes for oil galleys and other stuff.   The orings might be getting old.   Most all my 650s are wet on the bottom.   Clean it up more and you might see exactly where its from.

I think Terry is refering to the 2 oil gallery caps on the bottom of the crankcase just in front of the oil pan. as he said you will need to clean it up a bit to see where that oil is coming from. If it's not leaking much it is no probs as long as you keep an eye on the oil level. are you sure the motor isn't burning oil, from your pics it could be coming out of that exhaust.

*CRAP* after +- 150km's of driving with an oil leak  >:( ;D

I'm tired of cleaning the cb, the floor, ...
So i started looking. So far i took the excaust off and there is a little gap. 1*3 mm. Not mutch to worry about. But where does the oil come from?

Checking out the engine and the 1,2,4 cilinder is dry as hell (checking just after the out valve)
BUT THE 3th CILINDER IS WET a lot of messy oil. It looks like i was running on 3 cilinder instead of 1  :o

So what should i do now?
Best case: it was a spark plug who didn't ignition.
A little worse: Bad valve timing? Bad valve?
A lot worse: worn out pistong rings
A lot crappy worse: broken pistongs

I think the pistong's are still ok = i let the oil off. Checkt the oil for strange stuff = The oil is ok
(But the bloody oil filter bolt won't come loose so DARN IT!) i'm not sure

Any suggestions?
