I have looked through their site a few times, they just dont really list what is compatible for specific bikes.  I think I'm just going to have to wait until mine is town apart so I can see and measure everything I will need.

Thanks, but those are a different style carb.  I went ahead and am sending it out to be re-welded back on.  that way they are all a matching set, look the same and I can rest easy ;)


Does anyone has a source for where I can buy an OEM rebuild kit for my 74 cb550 petcock?  The model for the whole assembly is    
16950-300-020, and I can buy a new OEM one for $45 shipped... I'm thinking it might be worth just doing that vs trying to find a kit and rebuilding it...?

New petcock came in the mail, and my broken carb body is almost back from Jim French.  Thanks again for that suggestion, he did a great job on it from the pics he has sent and the price was great!

I should have the bike running in the next couple days and then the big teardown begins.

I think I will end up replacing the stock wheels with alloys, either Sun or Excel.  I want 18's front and rear, what are good widths to go with front and rear?  I dont want overkill on either, just a little wider.  Anyone liking their setups a lot?

I run close to factory sizes on my 77.  I had previously run a 110 on the front and a 110 on the rear and it handled pretty good. On the 75 I run a pretty fat and tall 16" on a comstar.

Guess it depends on the look your going for.
I'm running 17x3.5 fronts and 17x4.25 rear on this one build. This allows a 120 front and 150 rear.
Another 550 build I'm doing has the more stock 18x2.15 and 18x2.75 rear.

17s on your bike would looks sweet!

I really like the look of this bike's wheel/tire combination.  I think I want to go with 2.15 / 2.5 18"  Shouldered Takasago wheels, I just need to figure out the tire setup.  It's tough because not many bike articles go into tire detail...

That's a beautiful classic. My only concern is that you have already purchased modern
components for your build, then to add a more classic wheel combo would look wonky.
Those forks you have are pretty beefy, and need a beefier tire to look right. Does that make since. Classic with classic, Modern with Modern
I too love that classic look hence building a second 550 for my girl in that style.

I have decided to not use the GSXR forks.  I am going with Race Tech springs + Gold Valve Emulators.  I decided to stick with the classic styling of the bike =)

Yes, the 2.5x18 is the rear 120/80/18 , the front 2.15x18 is 100/90/18, that is of course if you use 18's front and back...  It can be a little difficulty finding sizes to suit but most manufacturers will have a size chart somewhere on their site.. I have rim sets in 3.5x18 R  with 2.15x19 FR...3.00x 18 R with 2.50 F and 4.5 x 18 R with 2.75 x 18 F {being modified soon} , all going on 750/4's.... ;)

Im thinking the Avon ROADRIDER AM26.  They come in 100/90 - 18 and 120/80 - 18
