I'm not sure off the top of my head.  I called Hagon and told them it was for a CB550 and gave them my weight (180 lbs) and they sent me springs.  I will measure when I get home, but they should be stock length.  The reason they might be a little short in my case is because I moved the mounting position forward.

Thanks! ya I think it is coming together nicely!  I have measured everything 100 times all of the mounting points and angles are all even!  It's a good feeing  ;D

Let's keep fingers crossed for clearance, since the subframe looks tidy.  How did you join your upper rails to the existing frame?

I filed down some chromoly tubing to be a press fit into the stock frame and the loop bar.  It took a while but it fits PERFECT.  I had to tap the loop on with a rubber mallet.  I drilled a hole and spot welded it on each side so it should be very strong.

To measure clearance while it is still tacked up (not fully welded) would you suggest I leave the top of the springs disconnected and move the swingarm with the wheel as close to full range of the spring to make sure it doesnt hit? 

I just dont want to bolt it all together and start jumping on it and potentially bend or break the tacks. 

does that make sense?  It doesnt feel very scientific, but I think I could eye ball the travel pretty close...

Certainly, I would figure out what the compressed length of the shock is (center of mounting hole to center of mounting hole) and mock it all up with the wheel and tire if you are worried about clearance.  get everything assembled and use a tiedown or something to hold the wheel up while you match and confirm the distance between the upper and lower mounts.

Thank you I appreciate that!  I am like you and hate it when that joining area looks wonky or when the "cafe racer seat" that someone buys and screws onto the stock frame looks like it is sitting on top of the bike instead of being a part of it.

This is the first bike I have ever built, so I really am taking my time to make sure I get it how I want AND to make sure I dont make too many stupid mistakes

i want to run 18's and just buying the correct length springs would also be infinitely cheaper than having buchanans make another wheel for me (and buying a tire)

In this photo I am just measuring out the point where the rear tire will bottom out.  It happened when the mounts are 10.25" apart (center of eye to eye)

That does not reflect a true bottom of shock compression as there is no Rider weight calculated. Worst case, longer shocks are needed.

I'm not sure I understand.  My thinking is that if I can find the fully compressed and "bottomed out" length of the shocks, it won't matter what my weight is as there would be no more room for it to travel anyway.  I see how my weight and the weight of the motor would effect "extended" and static ride height, but not sure how my weight would make the shocks travel farther than the "fully compressed" length.

Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but it looks like the swing arm angle at ride height would need to angled way down. By the time you got to this point the chain would have slacked off the sprockets and amputated you left foot.
